You Can Support Clean, Renewable Energy
You can help develop renewable energy resources in our region.

By paying an additional 1.5ยข per kilowatt hour for the electricity you use, you help fund wind-generated resources.

Currently all of the funding we receive through our Wind Power program goes toward purchasing electricity originating from a wind farm in Eastern Oregon.
Hydropower is the Perfect Partner for Renewables
The Columbia River acts like a giant battery backup for intermittent power generated by renewable energy sources like wind and solar.

Hydropower is an ideal balancing resource because of its flexibility. It can respond quickly to shifts in wind and solar output. Hydropower can easily be turned on and off.

This is an important quality that helps maintain the electric system's reliability. For the electric grid to operate, the amount of power produced must equal the amount of power being consumed every second of every day.
Columbia County is Ideal Place for EVs
With an abundance of clean, affordable electricity, Columbia County is an ideal location to own an electric vehicle (EV).

The vast majority of electricity you receive as a Columbia River PUD customer comes from clean, carbon-free hydropower. Because the fuel - water - is free, operating costs remain low.
