A MESSAGE FROM INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT KRISTOPHER SCHUH

Our newly-named Interim Superintendent has a message for our students, our staff, and our community as we get ready to go back-to-school.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL UPDATES - School Starts Monday!
Technology
Get your tech ready!
  • Assess the condition of your student’s device. If it is damaged, call 303-982-3438 to arrange for repair. Call the same number if you are missing a part, like a charger.

  • Families of incoming 5th and 9th graders, look for communication regarding your devices sent August 20. All 5th and 9th grade students will receive a new device at the beginning of the school year as part of the TechForEd program.

  • Make plans for home internet access. If you do not currently have internet access at your home, check to see if you are eligible and apply for the Comcast Internet Essentials program or review these additional low cost internet options. If you are unable to obtain internet service, let your school know so they can work with you to find a solution for your student.

  • Reach out to get support when you need it. Bookmark our device support and technical resources pages on the Jeffco website and remember to call 303-982-3438 during the school year if your student needs technical support for remote learning.

Health & Safety
  • Stay safe at school: Jeffco students share tips for staying safe when we go back to school.
  • Can I go to school today? Parents and guardians should assess a child's symptoms at home each day. Do not send your child to school if they are experiencing fever, chills, sore throat, new and unexpected cough, loss of taste or smell, extreme fatigue, muscle aches, headache, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or runny nose. For information on how to symptom screen children at home, review these guidelines by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

  • What happens if there is a confirmed case at school? We have collaborated with Jefferson County Public Health to develop this quarantine process that describes protocols for a variety of situations involving COVID-19 and schools.

  • What are we doing to keep Jeffco staff safe? We have implemented multiple safety measures and protocols in our buildings to protect Jeffco staff, including providing back-to-school training; supplying PPE, sanitizer, and cleaning materials; implementing ventilation improvements; defining screening and school management protocols; establishing a monitoring committee and a sick leave bank; and more. The Youth Advisory Council is a diverse group of high school students from all around the 2nd congressional district who meet once a month to discuss and learn about the federal government and legislation. They also help advise the Congressman on the concerns of young people and what they want to see him doing in our state and in Washington, D.C. (Meetings will be virtual until further notice.)

CONSTRUCTION KEEPS GOING ALL SUMMER LONG
2018 ballot measure 5B dollars in action - thank you voters!

Such a busy summer! And it isn't stopping anytime soon. Updates from our bond construction projects:
Playground Transformations
Eight Jeffco elementary school playgrounds are being transformed into colorful and engaging places to play. Allendale, Fletcher Miller, Kendallvue, Sheridan Green, Stony Creek, Stott, Vanderhoof, and Westridge will welcome back students who are ready to play!
Columbine Renovations
Our construction team has been hard at work renovating and remodeling schools to welcome back students when in-person learning resumes. Over at Columbine High School, construction is well underway on their entry, classroom, and locker room renovations.
Conifer Beautifies
We headed up to Conifer High School to get a tour of their on-going building renovations. With their new auxiliary gym, updated classrooms, weight room, and entrance, the views inside Conifer High just might match the view outside (but seriously, those Conifer trees!).
CLASS OF 2020 RECEIVES PURPLE RESILIENCY CORDS

The Jeffco Schools Foundation partnered with a generous group of sponsors to provide our Class of 2020 with a graduation gift to commemorate their resilience and celebrate their path forward - a resiliency cord in deep purple. Our graduates wore the cords for their ceremonies this month. Thank you!
It's a video montage!
Thank you:
Check out more videos of some of our August graduation ceremonies over on JPS-TV.
