RESTART JEFFCO - A MODEL FOR FALL 2020
|
|
Introducing Restart Jeffco!
This new website is intended to keep the Jeffco Public Schools community informed and engaged as we move through the summer months and look toward restarting school in the fall of 2020.
As we begin thinking about the next school year, we are sharing our
Jeffco Public Schools Restart Model-Draft
today in an effort to outline the district’s plan and solicit feedback from our Jeffco families and community.
|
|
Please watch this video message from Superintendent Dr. Jason Glass
introducing the Jeffco Restart Model.
|
|
The two filters we’ve used in developing the model are public health and educating students. The assumptions grounding the model are the public health advisories as of this current time. These, like many other things, may change as the summer progresses.
The
Restart Model-Draft
presents our most current thinking. It represents hundreds of hours of research, scenario modeling, and work from Jeffco’s dedicated and talented staff. We also solicited and reviewed feedback from all of our employee groups. It is still a work in progress - and we believe that through candid and constructive feedback from our community, this plan can be improved even more.
Your feedback is important!
Please read the
Restart Model-Draft
and provide feedback as soon as possible by completing the survey that is linked on the cover page of the document.
What happens next?
June & July
Digesting all of the collected feedback, updating assumptions and individual sections, and other planning will take several weeks. The result will be a final published Jeffco Restart Model in July.
July and beyond
We will continue to monitor Jeffco Public Health guidelines and make necessary adjustments as we lead up to when school administrators return for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

REMOTE LEARNING SURVEY - WAVE 2 RESULTS
|
|
|
As you know, we asked our community to weigh in on how remote learning went through the Learning at Home surveys shared with our families, our students, and our staff. Wave 1 was conducted April 3 - 10, 2020, and Wave 2 was conducted April 24 - May 3, 2020. Click the image to the left to see the results of Wave 2.
We are grateful for your participation in these surveys, as your feedback provides significant insight and informs our processes for delivering education to our students.
Thank you!

Pilot Applications and Extensions on Devices This Summer
You may see new applications and extensions show up on your student’s device or in their browser over the summer, as our
technology teams will be piloting applications and extensions to prepare for the fall. First up is the Securly Classroom Management Tool. If you have a question about an application or extension that appears, call the Jeffco Parent Technology Support Line at 303.982.3438.
Video Conference and Chat Access Over the Summer
While video conferencing and chat are necessary for some Jeffco school-related summer programs, we do not have the staff to actively monitor these applications and channels for all students. For that reason, the following decisions have been made about the summer use of these tools:
- High school students: Google Meet, Zoom, and Chat will remain ON for ALL high school students. All student and staff acceptable use policies apply. Staff and families can contact the Jeffco Parent Technology Support Line at 303.982.3438 if they believe conferencing tools are being abused over the summer.
- Middle school students: Google Meet, Zoom, and Chat will be turned OFF for ALL middle school students.
- Elementary school students: Google Meet, Zoom, and Chat will be turned OFF for ALL elementary school students. An exception will be made for students enrolled in JSEL.
