JEFFCO STADIUM AND NAAC SET TO LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
May 21, 22, and 23

Jeffco Stadium and Jeffco's North Area Athletic Complex (NAAC) will be joining the Be The Light movement in Colorado next week.

Jeffco Stadium  (6th Ave. and Kipling St., Lakewood) will turn on its lights at 8:30 pm on May 21, 22, and 23. On May 21, the symbolic lighting will honor the Colorado state track meet which would have started that day at Jeffco Stadium. This event has been hosted by Jeffco for 34 years and will be dearly missed. The Stadium just celebrated its 60th season.

On Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23, Jeffco Stadium will light up at 8:30 pm to recognize Jeffco's Class of 2020 and the student-athletes who missed out on their spring season after the COVID-19 pandemic canceled all such activities.

The  NAAC  (HWY 93 and 64th Pkwy., Arvada) will turn on its lights at 8:30 pm Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 to honor Jeffco's Class of 2020 and our student-athletes.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Cultivating Resilience
As we mentioned in our  May 5 issue , we are encouraging techniques that cultivate resilience - connection, calm, and gratitude. Week one's theme was Cultivating Connection. For week two, we looked at ways to Cultivate Calm. And for week three, we explore Cultivating Gratitude . Derived from the Latin word gratia, meaning grace, graciousness, or gratefulness, gratitude is a human acknowledgement of the goodness in one's life and provides a connection to something larger - people, nature, a higher power. Gratitude is consistently related to happiness, helping people feel more positive emotions and experiences to improve physical and mental health, manage adversity, and build strong relationships.

We have plenty of ideas for how to engage in these on our  Jeffco Strengths  family webpage, including creating a gratitude collage and tree, taking the Three Things Thankful Challenge, and play day activities!
