MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Cultivating Resilience
As we mentioned in our May 5 issue , we are encouraging techniques that cultivate resilience - connection, calm, and gratitude. Week one's theme was Cultivating Connection. For week two, we are highlighting Cultivating Calm - calming our minds, bodies, and nervous systems. Practicing mindfulness and being kind to yourself are two suggestions for this week. We have plenty of ideas for how to engage in these on our Jeffco Strengths family webpage, including creating a calm collage and check-in journal, using digital tools to rest and reflect, and play day activities!
TECHNOLOGY: SECURLYHOME APP PARENT CONTROLS RELEASED
In addition to viewing your student's online activity on any Jeffco Public Schools device (Chromebooks and iPads), parents/guardians can now create allow/block lists for applications and websites using the SecurlyHome app. Functionality turned on in the app yesterday will allow parents to have more say over their student’s internet activity while the device is at home and/or while using other public WiFi services, such as libraries or cafes. You also have the ability to pause all internet activity on the device. Learn more about this option and how to use it on our SecurlyHome App webpage .
GT RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
The gifted and talented department’s theme for the 2020-21 school year will focus on resilience and advocacy. We have compiled resources to support students and parents over the summer months to set the stage for this future learning. Find them here: Resilience & Self Advocacy for Students and Families
