Dear Friend,

Serving Iowans is the reason I came to Congress, and it’s my team’s mission every single day.

Every week, our office hears from Iowans who are waiting on answers from government agencies, have struggled to navigate bureaucracy, or just feel like there’s no relief in sight. Whether it's recovering a delayed tax refund, helping a small business access an SBA loan, or tracking down a missing social security check, my team and I are committed to finding answers and getting results for the people we represent.

Recently, after a constituent’s father passed away, his family was waiting on tens of thousands of dollars in a VA life insurance payment, but they couldn’t get answers. Our office stepped in, worked with the VA, and helped get the payment processed so his mother received the benefits she was owed.

Another constituent came to my office after being billed over a thousand dollars to retake an Army education course after being called to active duty before he could finish it. My team worked with the Army to fix the mistake and ensure he wasn't unfairly charged. No one should be penalized for answering the call to serve, and we are so grateful for his service.

And in one other recent instance, a constituent was wrongly told she owed taxes on income from an Etsy business she never had, so my team stepped in to help. We worked with the IRS to resolve the mistake, so she no longer has to worry about taxes or penalties tied to someone else's fraud.

At a time when too much in Washington feels stuck, we’re focused on solving problems, cutting through red tape, and making the lives of Iowans easier. I say it all the time — these stories may not get headline news, but they do change people’s lives, and we’re honored to serve and advocate on your behalf.

If you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency, my team is always here to help. Click here or call my Cedar Rapids office at 319-364-2288.

Sincerely,

Updates from Our Nation’s Capital

It was great to catch up with Governor Reynolds and her granddaughter in DC! Governor Reynolds is an amazing partner in the fight to keep Iowa the best place to live, work, and raise a family. I’m grateful for her leadership and continued friendship!

I loved visiting with Iowa Pork in my DC office as well last week. Mandates like California’s Prop 12 disproportionately harm small farmers who can’t afford thousands in compliance costs and raise prices for consumers. Radical activists who have never stepped foot on a family farm shouldn’t tell Iowa farmers how to do their job.

I also had a great meeting with the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association! We talked about issues impacting auto dealers and consumers, including protecting against catalytic converter theft and supporting American auto workers.

Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell and other city officials stopped by my DC office to discuss flood mitigation efforts and other economic development projects for the city. I was proud to secure $1.4 million to support Cedar Rapids' flood control project and I'll keep working to bring home federal investments that improve quality of life and safety in Iowa.

Connecting Around the District

My district team was honored to attend the swearing-in of Officer Kory Helle in Peosta. Congratulations to Officer Helle as he begins this new role, and thank you to the brave Iowa men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe.

The team also stopped by Habitat for Humanity's HomeLab to see all the great work they’re doing to prepare future homeowners. Their hands-on classes, from learning how to budget and manage home maintenance, give families real skills and the confidence they need for long-term success.

It was great to have my district team at the grand opening of the Back Waters Amphitheater. Looking forward to seeing this become a fun gathering place for the community for years to come!
