Hello Everyone,

I hope this message finds you all doing well. I have now been in Israel for one week of my three-week training and security mission.

The trip started out rough. After leaving Denver and making it to New York, our flight to Tel Aviv had to turn back just after passing Greenland and was diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. We sat on the plane for hours with little food or clear information. Once we finally deboarded, there were no sleeping arrangements or proper meals available, and we spent nearly sixteen hours there before being flown back to New York, rushed through customs, and reboarded for Tel Aviv. It ended up being more than a twenty-four-hour delay, but thankfully I had planned a few extra days before training began.

When I arrived in Tel Aviv, I was greeted by a powerful sight at the airport—signs, flyers, and photos honoring the hostages and victims of the ongoing war. It was a somber reminder of why this trip matters. I was also blessed to have housing provided by a community member from the Boulder Jewish community who is currently in Colorado.

During my first few days, I walked more than sixty kilometers around Tel Aviv, visiting the famous Carmel Market, the Mediterranean beaches, and exploring how Israeli people live day to day. I also attended the two-year memorial at Hostage Square. Seeing thousands gathered to honor those still held captive, and hearing the unity and strength of the people here, was something I will never forget. Israel is building infrastructure everywhere I go, I see new building, new roads, new sewars, new businesses, new life. It is humbling for a country at war.

Training began soon after, and it has been humbling, intense, and deeply meaningful. I have trained for years, but stepping back into the role of a student here in Israel has pushed me in ways I could not have imagined. We have spent hours on hand-to-hand Krav Maga fundamentals, knife and pistol defense, footwork and VIP protection, rifle defense in close-quarters combat, and corporate and infrastructure security. The lessons here are based on real-world conflict, shaped by the war itself. The instructors who teach us have lived through the realities we only study in theory.

The location where I am training had all of its windows blown out only weeks ago when a missile struck nearby. One of the people killed on October 7, 2023, once trained at this same facility. To stand and train here now is both humbling and motivating.

Beyond the training, I have also witnessed the strength and unity of the Israeli people. Last night after Shabbat, I attended a massive rally at Hostage Square marking the release of some o,f the hostages. There were over four hundred thousand people packed into the streets. I wore my American polo shirt with the U.S. and Israeli flag pins, and people everywhere thanked me for America’s support and leadership. Their gratitude was heartfelt and powerful to experience firsthand.

It is humbling and life-changing to be here during such a historic moment. To learn from Israel, in Israel, during a time of war and remembrance, is something I will carry for the rest of my life. Everything I am learning here will come home with me—to my team, to the Jewish community, to the schools, businesses, executives, and organizations we protect, and to the communities across Colorado that count on HCCI Protection.

I have been able to raise about $5,500 of the $8,000 needed for this mission. I still have one more week of training in Tel Aviv, and then I will travel to Jerusalem to join the international Law Enforcement and Security Mission that began this journey. If you know anyone who would like to contribute toward the remaining cost or simply support the mission of bringing these life-saving skills back home, please share this message.

If you would like to contribute to my mission in support of the communities here in Colorado, gifts made through Shane's Venmo or another preferred method—will directly invest in the safety and resilience of our communities here in Colorado.

Thank you for believing in our mission to transform the security industry in Colorado and beyond. Thank you for standing with me, with HCCI Protection, and with our shared goal of building safer communities for all people.
