Living well in the "second half "of our life is a critical challenge! Every day more than 12,500 Americans turn 50. The focus is no longer on raising children and, for many, there are years until retirement.
How do we thrive in the midst of the physical, psychological and environmental changes that accompany aging?
After years of pushing aside personal interests to raise a family, it may be hard to figure out a path for meaning in the second half.
Change is an Opportunity!
During the 20's, 30's and 40's, many are busy raising families, developing careers and establishing community. There is a strong focus on growth. However, as we age we have to adapt to multiple transitions and loss: hormonal and metabolic changes in our bodies; re-assessments of career paths and opportunities; children leaving for college and careers; parents aging; and our own medical conditions. Our limitations and mortality may become very present. Negotiate these changes by recommitting to your growth in the second half!
