Perdido Bay UMC Family,
Sunday Greetings! I hope you were able to join us already today for our worship service. If not please use the links above to watch. The Facebook video is available now, and the entire service is being uploaded to Youtube and should be completed this evening.
Our Resident Bishop, Bishop David Graves, sent a notice out on Friday asking all the churches of Alabama-West Florida to continue to postpone all in-person gatherings of any size through April 15. In response to this request and out of a deep sense of compassion for our community we have extended our campus closure through April 15. Our office will still be opened to take your calls, emails, and mail during regular office hours, and our staff is still hard at work supporting our mission and vision. For the safety of all persons please call ahead if you have a need to come to the church campus.
This Wednesday, April 1, we will webcast on Facebook and through our website our Wednesday Study for Adults:
Stump the Chump
with Yours Truly! If you have a theological question (or really any question) you would like for me to address I will be opening those live on camera and responding. Please submit your questions to
by Tuesday, March 31 at noon. Also this Wednesday we will release new discipleship opportunities for our youth and children on our website at
Our current plan for Palm Sunday, April 5, is to offer Facebook Live Worship at 9:00 a.m., a webcast of our annual re-enactment of Palm Sunday for the whole family at 10:00 a.m., and a drive-in worship opportunity at 11:00 a.m. We will be using a transistor that will enable us to reach an FM station in your car if you are on campus. This service will be an act of praise, prayer, and a sermon – the full worship service will be available at 9:00 a.m. on Facebook and through our website. If you would like to worship by being on site, you may drive up to church a short time before 11:00 a.m. on April 5. For us to comply with the safety standards and the ordinances in place everyone must remain in their own vehicles with their windows shut, and we cannot provide the use of the facilities for any reason (e.g., no restrooms available). As the week progresses, we hope that drive-in church will continue to meet with the County’s public safety standards and that weather will permit this option, but if it does not we will cancel this 11:00 a.m. worship opportunity. Later in the week we will send out an announcement.
We are continuing to address the many new and arising needs of our congregation and community, and we ask for your continued prayers for the church and the world. We should have an announcement about our other Holy Week and Easter Services soon.
I would like to close by saying that this week I lost a friend whom I loved, Ralph Loveless. While even at his home, I was unable to physically hug his family or stand directly by his side, and my heart is broken. The resurrection and the hope we have in Christ sustains me in my grief, and I pray brings comfort to all brokenhearted everywhere. May the peace of the Lord be with you, comfort you, and protect you.
