Why You Should Consider Disability Insurance

If you and your loved ones depend on your salary for support, then you probably need disability income insurance. Think about it, if you were to become disabled, even for a few months, how would you and your family manage? How would you pay your bills? Disabling illness or injury is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the United States. Just like any other form of insurance, disability insurance promises compensation in the event of an injury or handicap that prevents the policy owner from continuing his/her normal occupation.

Many people mistakenly believe that the government or Worker's Compensation will pay them an income if they become disabled. Actually, many people who apply for Social Security disability benefits are rejected. Social Security does not pay benefits for partial or short-term disability. Your disability has to either last a year or be expected to last a year, before you can collect Social Security. Worker's Compensation pays only if you were injured on the job and benefits are often limited to a few years.

Outside Exercise Tips

One of the benefits of California living is that we get outside more often. It is great to be able to live and work outside. Many of us exercise outside too. Be careful of outdoor air quality, which can hinder your workout. Outdoor light provides essential vitamin D, enhances mood, improves sleep, and has other benefits.

  1. Walk in the early morning or evening.
  2. Take water with you when you exercise.
  3. Use sunscreen.
  4. Always stretch before you exercise.
  5. If you run, wear bright colored clothing so you can be seen.
  6. Do not run alone at night.
  7. Change up your workout from time to time.
  8. Try exercising in the rain...you may enjoy it.
  9. The hotter it is, the harder your body has to work. So, if you normally run make sure to take breaks.
