Dear Colleagues,
As we navigate the rapidly changing federal research landscape, I am writing to reiterate the Office of Research's steadfast commitment to supporting UCSF's research mission, UCSF's research community, and UCSF's values. I am deeply engaged in these efforts and have great confidence in our campus leadership and resourcefulness.
This Thursday, February 20, please join the Office of Research and other UCSF leaders for a special Research Town Hall. We will describe the current federal research landscape, discuss how the Office of Research is working to support research in this time of uncertainty, and address questions we are receiving from UCSF faculty, staff, and trainees.
Stay informed by visiting our Office of Research dedicated webpage on federal research updates and the UC Office of the President webpage on federal updates.
Please do not hesitate to share questions or concerns with me at research@ucsf.edu.
Yours,
Hal
Harold R. Collard, MD, MS
Vice Chancellor for Research

CTEC Update: HRPP and IRB | |
On behalf of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), we are extending our invitations to principal investigators (PIs) for participation in meetings where their presence may facilitate the review process and minimize the number of stipulation rounds.
In our efforts to streamline operations, we have launched a project aimed at reducing the volume of non-IRB-related inquiries in the upcoming IRB submission system. This initiative is expected to significantly decrease the time required to complete an IRB application.
Additionally, we will soon issue updated guidance for the consent form template, which will address delays linked to sponsor requests for the inclusion of nonessential language.
