Dear Friends and Family of the Harford Center,
From a recent ZOOM meeting with families of Harford Center participants, I have learned that we could do a better job with communicating. It was suggested to send letters out to families that we have been unable to get a hold of via email. At present, we have done updates via email, phone calls, Facebook and our website; however, we haven’t been able to get a hold of everyone. If we have missed you, you have my sincerest apologies. If you have an updated email address, that is the quickest and most efficient way to disperse critical and timely information. However, if you prefer a phone call or a mail update, please contact us to let us know your preferred communication method.
I wanted to provide an update on where the Harford Center is with “re-opening.” We have been providing services since we closed the building on March 17th to participants in their homes. We have also provided “virtual” supports via ZOOM, FaceTime, and the phone. We want to connect with everyone. We are able to provide both in -person and virtual supports at this time. Also, we are having small groups of participants in the building. However, we require that everyone in the building wear a mask per the Governor’s Executive Order. If your loved one is unable to wear a mask, we can send a staff person to your home to provide supports for a couple of hours (minimum of 1 hour) during the day. If you are uncomfortable with in-person supports, we have a daily “virtual show” that provides educational opportunities, socialization, and fun everyday at 10am. We plan to add more “shows” during the evening and weekends. Additionally, we will be having an outdoor “carnival” with games once per week on an RSVP basis.
We are beginning to gradually increase our services/supports in the building and look forward to a time when we are all back together. Please use this letter as a resource for contacts:
Dave Black, Program Director: Contact for RSVP for the carnival, regarding needed supports, and any program-related questions
Dinah Bertholdt, Marketing Coordinator: Contact to update your contact information & to get on our mailing list
Sherry Nolte, Executive Director: Contact for questions, concerns, suggestions on how we can better serve your loved one
We want to hear from you and miss seeing everyone’s face. We have a Friends and Family Zoom every three weeks. The next meeting is July 9th at 11am. Here is the link:
