Update from our Health Committee
Dear Shir Chadash Community,

In light of Mayor Cantrell's announcement of a mask advisory for Orleans Parish and as we continue to prepare for the upcoming High Holidays, the Health Committee has updated our synagogue's reopening guidelines. You can find the current version of the guidelines HERE.

Given the very high rates of vaccination in our congregation, the Health Committee has made several recommendations. Many of our ritual practices on Shabbat morning have returned to normal (e.g. taking aliyot). Our individually packaged food offerings for Kiddush have been expanded and may now be enjoyed in our Social Hall. And, the Sunday morning Men's Club minyan is in person (and online) followed by breakfast.

However, in light of the surging number of COVID cases in the larger New Orleans community, we are putting a few additional safety measures in place. For now, only those who are fully vaccinated may come up to the bimah to participate in services. Touching or kissing the Torah is discouraged. In addition, all staff who work with our children must be fully vaccinated.

Lastly, we respectfully ask that everyone wear a mask while inside the synagogue regardless of vaccination status. If you are not yet vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Shabbat Shalom.
