On August 4, we celebrated our last Sunday with Pam as Senior Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church. In her sermon, Pam reminded us of the importance of gratitude. So through music and liturgy and stories, we did just that, expressing our profound gratitude for her leadership these last nine years. To borrow Pam’s favorite closing word, we sent Pam onward with our blessings. Now we have to move onward as well.

As you know, effective August 11, I became Acting Head of Staff. I will be filling this role until an interim pastor is in place. My focus over the next several weeks will be to continue supporting our excellent worship, preparing for the start of the new program year, and making sure we have the staff and resources we need to continue to do ministry with excellence.

Toward that end, I’m happy to announce one staffing change.

After a thorough search in which multiple candidates were considered, we are happy to announce that Sarah Wikle will become our new Director of Engagement effective August 16. Sarah will develop and implement strategies for engaging all members of our community in our shared life, and for reaching out to those not already a part of the Trinity community. We’re excited about Sarah’s enthusiasm, her ability to build relationships, and her grace under pressure. As Director of Engagement, Sarah will also continue to support mission, one of the primary avenues for meaningful engagement in the work of the church.

The wheels are already in motion to fill the administrative position left vacant by this move. I will communicate more about this in the coming weeks.

I continue to be encouraged by the talented and committed staff and lay leadership here at Trinity. Times of transition are never easy, but I’m confident we can navigate this space together with hope and grace.

Thank you for the privilege of serving as your pastor during this time of transition.

Grace and peace,
Richard
