An Update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

Happy first day of September! It’s hard to believe that Labor Day is right around the corner and that schools have either started or will start within a week.

Yesterday, County Executive Pittman hosted the first meeting of the Joint Commission on the Opportunity Gap. This is exciting work, and I encourage you to read about it and watch yesterday’s press conference. You can find the links to these below.

Please note that today’s Budget Tour in District 5 has been canceled due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida that are coming through the area today. We will let you know when this is rescheduled. Tomorrow’s Budget Tour in District 1 is on, and we look forward to seeing many of you there!

Sincerely,

James Kitchin

Anne Arundel County Celebrates National Preparedness Month
The month of September is recognized as National Preparedness Month, an annual opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of always being prepared for disasters and emergencies. Preeti Emrick, Director of the Office of Emergency Management, urges community members to integrate preparedness into their lives as well, “even if in the smallest way. Whether it is creating a communication plan with your family, purchasing an item or two for your emergency kits, getting vaccinated, or simply signing up for Alert Anne Arundel, we can all take steps to better prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead.”
