An Update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
New Initiatives Announced
County Executive Pittman and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) President & CEO Kirkland Murray announced that AAWDC has received CARES Act funding to implement the Anne Arundel County Excluded Workers Humanitarian Relief Fund and Rapid Re-Employment Services.

Applications for the Anne Arundel County Excluded Worker Humanitarian Relief Fund opened Monday, July 13, 2020 at 9:00 am. Information about the program, the application, and frequently asked questions can be found at www.aawdc.org/relief.

We encourage any Anne Arundel County resident who qualifies for this fund to apply online. If individuals do not have internet they can call the Anne Arundel County Career Center at 410-424-3240 for assistance. Once residents' applications are accepted an AAWDC staff member will contact them to schedule them to pick up their Visa card at a convenient pop-up pick up location throughout the county.

CNA/GNA Training Opportunity
Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation and Anne Arundel Community College will be sponsoring a CNA/GNA training program. Classes will begin August 24th and complete in November. This is a perfect opportunity to break into the healthcare field without a degree.

The training will be during the day, with the lecture component being done online and the lab portion taking place on the Arnold campus.

Ardath M. Cade Scholarship Fund
Emerging leaders from the neighborhoods and communities in Anne Arundel County are encouraged to apply for the Ardath M. Cade Scholarship Fund. If you are interested in applying for these funds, click here to download and complete the application, which is being accepted on a rolling basis. Up to $1,000 could be awarded to you for professional development in neighborhood leadership training.

Community Meetings
Residents can now view a calendar of upcoming community meetings in their area, review site plans and other documents, attend virtual meetings, watch previously recorded meetings, and provide public comments directly to the Office of Planning and Zoning - all through the new  Community Meetings website. The first set of meetings start the week of July 20th, see a snapshot below.
Things You May Have Missed Last Week...
Drive Through COVID-19 Testing
Drive-through COVID-19 testing is available for Anne Arundel residents Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Testing is available at no cost, with or without symptoms. A doctor's note is not needed. If insured, please bring your insurance card.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, it is best to be tested within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms. Individuals with severe difficulty breathing should immediately call their primary care provider or 9-1-1.
