An Update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

I hope that each of you had a fun and relaxing Fourth of July Weekend! County Executive Pittman had a great time attending parades in Annapolis, Cape St. Claire, Galesville, and Severna Park. It was a great experience to come together as a community to celebrate America’s birthday. A link to our pictures from the weekend can be found below.

Yesterday, 143 Anne Arundel County Police Officers wore their Body Worn Cameras in the field for the first time. The program is being phased in over the rest of the summer. So not every officer will be wearing them right away - but you will definitely begin noticing them when you interact with officers in your communities.

Also, I want to remind you that we are currently accepting applications for people to be on the Stakeholder Advisory Committees for the upcoming Region Plans in regional areas 2, 4, and 7. County Executive Pittman ensured that Plan2040 transferred power to communities, and now we need a solid group of volunteers to help shape the future of your region of Anne Arundel County. Please read more about this opportunity below, and then both spread the word and consider if you are the right person to represent your community on the committee for your area.

District 2 residents: Councilwoman Allison Pickard and County Executive Pittman invite you to join them on Thursday, July 8th at 5:30 p.m. at Fire Company 26 in Glen Burnie to talk about how our FY22 budget invests in our District 2 communities.

We'll highlight the great school construction, recreation facility updates, and other infrastructure projects and county resources coming to District 2 that will benefit you and everyone in your communities.

Be sure to RSVP on our Facebook event page and check for updates in case we have to reschedule due to inclement weather.
Anne Arundel County Wins an Award for Office of Health Equity and Racial Justice
The Maryland Association of Counties announced its Innovation Award Winners. The awards were established to recognize superb and leading-edge county programs that improve the overall quality of life and service delivery for a county’s residents.

The Department of Health established the Office of Health Equity and Racial Justice in April 2020. Its mission is to advocate, educate and implement health equity and racial justice initiatives in Anne Arundel County. It drives the work of addressing racism as a public health issue, a declaration made by the county in November 2019. The Office collects, analyzes and reports disaggregated data to identify racial/ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic disparities in health measures. It works by collaborating with affected communities, governmental agencies, and organizations to identify problems and collaborate on solutions.

Follow them on Facebook or email [email protected] for more information.
