Waste Management Services Operating Schedule -
Election Day
The Department of Public Works, Waste Management Services will observe the following curbside collection schedule and facility operating schedule at the Millersville Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility and the Northern, Central and Southern Recycling Centers in observance of Election Day.

  • NOV 3rd – Normal Curbside Collection Provided – All WMS Facilities Closed

All facilities will reopen on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Curbside collection of recycling, yard waste, and trash will not be affected by the holiday.

Energy Assistance Relief
With the state moratorium on utility cutoffs set to expire on November 15, County Executive Steuart Pittman announced an energy bill relief program that will allow qualified families and individuals affected by COVID to apply for special assistance through Anne Arundel’s Community Action Agency (CAA). This program further supports BGE’s flexible payment program and other options announced earlier by the utility to help customers manage billing challenges and remain in service.

Venison Food Relief Program
County Executive Pittman announced a new program to provide venison meat to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank to distribute to families in need. The Venison Food Relief Program, run through the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC), begins November 1 and will provide licensed deer hunters $50 for each legally harvested deer. The program is being paid for with the county’s allocation of federal CARES Act funding.

Recreation and Parks Earns National Accreditation in Parks and Recreation
Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks joins the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies across the country by earning accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This distinguished accomplishment was awarded during the 2020 NRPA Annual Conference: A Virtual Experience.
