An Update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

Tonight at 6 p.m., County Executive Pittman will deliver his 2020 State of the County address. Any other year, Mr. Pittman would have delivered the address in the County Council Chambers before a live audience. But, due to COVID, this year's address has been prerecorded.

Please join us tonight to hear his thoughts on the future of Anne Arundel County.

Tune in at 6 p.m. and watch on:

Best,

James Kitchin
Office of the County Executive
Director, CECS

Science Behind Public Health Decision Making
The COVID case rate has been increasing steadily for two months, with the case rate at 47 cases per 100,000 residents on December 11. Hospitalizations in the county are growing, and the state reached a new high in hospitalizations on December 11 as well. The COVID vaccines are our way forward, and to take the greatest advantage of them, everyone needs to be healthy and alive so that they can get it when it becomes available.

The hospitals will continue to care for everyone that comes through their doors. But, as more people are hospitalized, the stress on their system is increasing each day. At this rate, in the next one to two months, the hospitals will be overwhelmed. This is happening in other states, and the modeling shows that it is happening here in Maryland. That’s why action needs to be taken now.

Our communities are struggling from the impacts of COVID-19, and Anne Arundel County is here to help. We've expanded our Food Access Warmline to a full COVID Care Warmline to get you the help you need. Call 410-222-3663 to speak with a case manager now.

Parole Mobility Study
The Office of Transportation has completed a Multi-modal (Bicycle, Pedestrian, Transit, and Vehicular) Mobility Study of the Parole Growth Management Area. The Mobility Study will support the Office of Planning and Zoning’s update of the Parole Urban Design Concept Plan (PUDCP), the master plan for the Parole Growth Management Area (PGMA), which is currently underway.

The purpose of the study is to identify necessary short-term and long-term improvements to meet the Parole Town Center’s future multi-modal mobility needs and provide a connected transportation network supporting all users of the right-of-way including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists.

The study was broken into two reports, an existing conditions report and a recommendations report. The recommendations report consisted of a series of recommended improvements with regard to street typologies (cross-sections), bicycle, pedestrian, transit network improvements, as well as roadway and intersection improvements.

All reports and recommendations, as well as a link to provide comments, can be found by clicking here.
