An Update from the Office of Community Engagement and Constituent Services (CECS)
Dear Community Leaders and Members of Anne Arundel County,

There is a lot going on right now and we want to make sure that your community's voice is heard and can help shape the direction of several key initiatives.

Last Thursday, County Executive Pittman announced the start of the public comment period for our Draft Green Infrastructure Master Plan. The draft plan would conserve 5,000 acres by 2030, while adding green spaces to urban communities. Read more about it below and please be sure to give your input.

The next stop on our FY22 budget tour will be in District 5. County Executive Pittman will talk with residents about the budget investments in our District 5 communities. This event will take place September 1 at 5:00 p.m. at the Arnold Senior Center. Be sure to show up for an opportunity to talk with County Executive Pittman and community leaders about your neighborhood.

There is still time to take our survey on community policing as well as to submit project abstracts to our ARP Funding Portal. You can read more details about each of those below as well as other information and community updates.

Sincerely,

James Kitchin
Office of the County Executive
Director, CECS

County Executive Pittman Issues Statement on 2020 U.S. Census Results
Annapolis, MD (August 12, 2021) - Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman’s comments regarding the release of 2020 U.S. Census results:
“The data released today show Anne Arundel County is now the 4th largest jurisdiction in the state, with a population of 588,261. Over the last ten years, we added more than 50,000 residents, an increase of 9.4% - the fifth-fastest growing county in the state over that timeframe.

Over the last ten years, we grew fast. Some of that growth was poorly planned sprawl, without the services and infrastructure that our residents deserve. We’ve caught up in recent years, but must ensure that future growth is better planned and community-supported.
