Update from the Health Committee
Dear Shir Chadash Community,

Our Health Committee met recently to discuss the new CDC recommendations regarding fully vaccinated people and the implications for our synagogue. We reviewed our COVID-19 safety protocols and subsequently made adjustments to our guidelines in coordination with the Reopening Working Group. We seek to follow an approach that balances science, the desire to return to "normal," and the concern for protecting our at-risk congregants – the elderly, the immune compromised, and those under 12 years of age. If you would like to see our current guidelines, please click HERE.

If you have attended services recently, you will note that several changes have already been implemented. The perspex shields have been removed from the main sanctuary, and service leaders can unmask on the bima if they are fully vaccinated. Attendees now gather and enjoy delicious treats in the Sukkah area after services (masks optional), and discussions are underway exploring expanded Kiddush options. For the time being, however, we ask that appropriate face coverings continue to be worn while inside the building.

To continue moving forward, we are now requesting that you complete an anonymous survey about the vaccination status of your household. This information will give us a better idea of the level of vaccination in our congregation and help us determine next steps in our gradual reopening of Shir Chadash. Please click HERE to access the survey.

Sincerely,
Julie Finger
Chair, Health Committee
