September 2023

Blink and September is already here! While the summer is winding down, we certainly are not at the MHCC. Nope, no downshifting here! Let me share a few noteworthy things shaping our ability to positively impact our Hispanic community.

ADELANTE MI

I’m pleased to announce Erandi Yunuhen Arredondo as our Bilingual Program Manager for the Adelante Michigan program we launched in Lincoln Park this summer. Originally from Mexico City, Erandi has 12 years of sales and business development experience, opening new markets, building strong customer relationships, and driving solutions through sound business processes to meet customer needs. She has worked for several international telecommunications companies and businesses in the broadcasting industry, including TV AZTECA and TELEVISA. She holds a BS in Electronics Engineering and Communications and an MBA from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), with an emphasis in Marketing. She is part of a non-profit program called DHL GoTrade GBSN Fellowship Program, paired with SMEs in LATAM to foster cross-border trade and access to the global market, where she provides mentoring and coaching business activities.

As our program lead for ADELANTE MI, Erandi is focused on equipping underserved Hispanic-owned micro businesses with relevant technical resources, leadership and entrepreneurial skillset training to help strengthen them — providing essential resources to adapt, profitably grow and become more sustainable. We look forward to delivering on the investment provided to us to help build an ecosystem that accelerates Hispanic business growth and prosperity in this Downriver community.

ELEVATE TOGETHER

Our team is so excited to finalize the evaluation and selection process for Round 2 of the Elevate Together program, confirming seven $5,000 cash grants and mentorship opportunities to deserving Hispanic and Black-owned micro businesses. Follow us on social media to learn which seven business owners will be awarded!

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Sept. 15th – Oct. 15th is dedicated to National Hispanic Heritage Month, annually celebrated in the United States to recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. The MHCC will be participating in several conferences, festivals, and panel discussions related to the impact of the Hispanic community in the country and Michigan.
