Francophone Portfolio: ACFAS
Another mark your calendar! In partnership with the Academy of Social Sciences of the RSC, the Francophone portfolio of the College is hosting a symposium as part of the 92nd ACFAS congress, on May 9, 2025.
Entitled “Immigration and Higher Education: What Leadership for Universities in Canada and Quebec?”, it will bring together panelists who:
- Will explore migration policies and their impact on the recruitment, reception and integration of international students.
- Discuss the role of higher education institutions in this context.
You are all warmly invited to join this important reflection!

Title in Public Contributions
When signing public contributions (editorials, media contributions, The Conversation articles..), we encourage you to use your RSC title as “Member of RSC College”. This will help with College visibility.

Report from Indigenous Engagement Portfolio (from Frank Deer)
Indigenous engagement continues to be an area of focus for the RSC College. Buoyed by the success of the Tri-Academy Partnership (TAP) on Indigenous Engagement event hosted by the RSC in November in Vancouver, the baton has been passed to our colleagues in Aotearoa to host TAP 2025 in late November. Although the heavy-lifting will be done by the Royal Society Te Apārangi, we will be assembling a delegation for that event. We’re looking forward to continuing this reconciliatory conversation!
I continue to work with Gary Libben’s (RSC Secretary) Inclusive Excellence committee which explores, amongst other things, Indigenous engagement. More to come on this initiative soon!

Un autre rendez-vous à noter à votre agenda ! En partenariat avec l’Académie des sciences sociales de la SRC, le portfolio francophone du Collège organise un colloque dans le cadre du 92e congrès de l’ACFAS, le 9 mai 2025. Intitulé « Immigration et enseignement supérieur : quel leadership pour les universités au Canada et au Québec », il réunira des panélistes qui :
- Exploreront les politiques migratoires et leur impact sur le recrutement, l’accueil et l’insertion des étudiant·e·s internationaux.
- Discuteront du rôle des établissements d’enseignement supérieur dans ce contexte.

Le conseil du Collège a récemment étudié la candidature de deux nouveaux groupes de travail. Ils ont tous deux été approuvés, à condition qu'ils augmentent le nombre de leurs membres. Si vous êtes intéressé, n'hésitez pas à envisager de rejoindre l'un des deux groupes de travail ci-dessous, en contactant les membres ci-dessous.

Titre dans les contributions publiques
Lors de la signature de contributions publiques (éditoriaux, contributions aux médias, articles dans La Conversation…), nous vous encourageons à utiliser votre titre SRC comme suit « Membre du Collège de la SRC ». Cela contribuera à la visibilité du Collège.

Rapport du Portfolio de l'engagement autochtone (de Frank Deer)
L’engagement autochtone continue d’être un domaine prioritaire pour le Collège de la SRC. Forts du succès de l’événement du Partenariat tri-académique (PTA) sur l’engagement autochtone organisé par la SRC en novembre à Vancouver, le relais a été passé à nos collègues d’Aotearoa pour accueillir le PTA 2025 à la fin novembre. Bien que le gros du travail soit effectué par la Royal Society Te Apārangi, nous réunirons une délégation pour cet événement. Nous sommes impatients de poursuivre cette conversation réconciliatrice !
Je continue de travailler avec le comité Inclusive Excellence de Gary Libben (Secrétaire de la SRC), qui étudie, entre autres, l'engagement autochtone. Plus d'informations sur cette initiative à venir bientôt !
