Update on 50-Year Visioning Work

Our citywide West Cliff team has been navigating complex timelines to pave the way for the much-anticipated construction on West Cliff, all while actively engaging in the 50-year visioning initiative. In consideration of balancing delivering a high-quality draft with the project's many moving parts, we have a slight adjustment to our timeline.

We are aiming to present the draft of the 50-year vision at the second Council meeting in March 2024. This extended timeframe will allow us to: 1. Plan for a public opinion poll given the upcoming holidays, 2. Invest more time to design timely community engagement, and 3. Better integrate the input from the community and the focus group meetings into the vision.

Thanks for your continued engagement on this project, and we hope you'll join us at the upcoming 50-year visioning virtual community meeting on November 7th!

🚧 Construction Report 🚧

Granite Construction is on site at 1016, and the first phase of excavation work is underway. Here's what you need to know:

🏗️ Heavy Equipment & Crews:

You'll start to notice some changes around the site. Expect to see heavy equipment, tractors, and light trucks with crews of 6 to 10.

🌄 Phase Duration:

The first phase of excavation at the 1016 site is scheduled to continue through the end of October 2023. The first step will be digging a sloped access ramp so that equipment can access the base of the work site. After establishing equipment access, Granite Construction will begin the structure excavation for the new wall.

🚦 Safety First:

Your safety is our priority! Please follow all traffic and safety signs, be mindful of any detours, and stay out of the construction area. Those barricades are there to protect you, so please don't remove or go beyond them.

We'll keep you posted as the project progresses, so stay tuned for more updates!

Stay up to date!
