GaHIN Expands Members Participating in ADT Alerts

GaHIN is continuing to expand the number of its members who are benefitting from its ADT alerting system. ADT is a commonly used hospital term for admissions, discharges, and transfers. There are currently 12 hospitals/health systems contributing ADTs with several others in the process of connecting.

ADT alerts play an important role in care coordination. These automatic notifications make the patient’s care team aware of an emergency or worsening condition resulting in an ER visit or hospital admission or alert them about the need to follow up post-discharge.

Technology Search

GaHIN has closed its request for proposals for technology that will support the organization’s services and provide the next generation of HIE services. We are pleased with the response and are currently reviewing the proposals. It is expected that a decision will be complete by the end of July.

New Medical Imaging Exchange Service Underway

GaHIN has executed the contract with Ambra Health, a leader in medical data and image management, to provide our members with medical imaging exchange. Ambra’s cloud solution with its web-based interface will allow providers to store, exchange and transmit medical images.

The Ambra DICOM viewer is web-based, giving providers access to images from anywhere, using any web browser. The viewer includes tools for annotating imaging studies as well as a built-in meeting tool for real-time collaboration with other physicians.

Medical images are difficult to transmit electronically due to their large size. The traditional – and still current method – is to send a CD or give it to a patient to carry with them to the provider.

GaHIN is seeking members who would like to participate in the initial beta phase of the project, with full rollout to members expected by the end of the year.
