Update on APHSA Fall Events
At APHSA, we remain committed to ensuring a safe environment at each of our educational conferences. Your health and safety is our top priority. To this end, we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 and follow public health guidance regarding large in-person gatherings. With the continued strain on local health systems due to the Delta variant, and the fact that children under 12 are not yet eligible for the vaccine, we are making the following changes:

All events planned for the month of October are moving to a fully virtual platform; this means we are cancelling the in-person events for NSDTA and AAHHSA in the cities of Spokane, WA, Oct. 3-6 and Columbus, OH, Oct. 17-20 respectively. All in-person registrants will be automatically moved to a virtual registration and refunded the difference in fee. Any new registrants will be for the virtual platform only. Additional details about the revised format of these now virtual events will be provided within the next two weeks as we work with scheduled presenters and our planning teams to make necessary adjustments and ensure a quality experience for all.

Our ISM hybrid conference on September 26-29 will proceed in Cincinnati, Ohio with the following adjustments to our health and safety protocols:

NEW: All in-person attendees and sponsors are required to be fully vaccinated or prepared to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to arriving at the event. Once registered, you will receive instructions to securely provide proof of your vaccination or a negative test result ahead of the event as part of our HealthShield chatbot through a Secure Document Upload Portal.

We also encourage attendees to bring their vaccination card with them as protocols at off-site dining establishments and venues are continually changing.

To ensure everyone involved can enjoy a safe and meaningful conference experience, our health and safety protocols at ISM also include:
  • Access to a confidential, no-cost COVID-19 test before and/or after the conference through this link.
  • A daily health screening (HealthShield) available through our APHSA chatbot that is required to be completed each day at the in-person event when entering the convention center. To access chatbot, scan this QR code or text “Hi” to 855-705-8296.
  • Masks must be worn, at all times, in the meeting space except when presenting in a session, eating, or drinking.
  • Hand sanitation stations will be positioned throughout the venue, and we have agreed-upon protocols with the convention center/hotels regarding cleaning and sanitization.
  • Conference meeting rooms are set to reduce the total number of people who can be in a room at one time with social distancing.
  • Additional practices adopted to eliminate the need for unnecessary touching (e.g., of microphones) and to avoid lines or people confined in close proximity to each other for extended periods.
  • Lanyards for badges that allow attendees to self-select the color to communicate their comfort level of engagement on distancing: “Green = Hugs & Handshakes Welcomed; White = Fist & Elbow Bumps, Please; Red = Social Distance, Please”

For those of you attending ISM, please review the event Code of Conduct and FAQs. We are updating our Meeting Safely materials on the conference website.
