We promised you alternative programming, and it’s finally here! Before we get there, I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the magnitude of this week's events.
I have never been prouder of our team than I have been over the last few days. Since suspending all in-person programming, our staff has exhibited incredible humility, initiative, creativity, teamwork, and resilience as we have faced a complete stoppage of most of our revenue-generating services - physical therapy, exercise therapy, workshops, and the retreat. The upside is that with our new free time, we brainstormed, designed, and are now developing a rich online exercise and resource platform...something we have been meaning to do but hadn't yet made the time.
Later today, each of you will receive an email from a therapist containing links to the first set of your class-specific videos. The set includes warm-ups, workouts to drive intensity, and cool downs, designed for a range of ability levels. As we navigate this new modality together, we’d love to hear from you about your experience and learn what you liked, what you didn’t, and what you’d like to see in the future.
In addition to offering you these exercise videos, next week we will begin hosting weekly class "Meet-Ups" via the online collaboration tool Zoom. These live events will be led by one of our therapists and will include a short workout as well as some time to catch up with your fellow class members. More information about Meet-Ups will also be included in the therapist's email.
What you’ll need to participate in these Meet-Ups
To participate with both video and audio, we will be using Zoom. Don't worry - we have developed detailed instructions to help you get set up, which you can access by clicking
. If your computer has a camera and microphone, please follow the computer instructions provided. If you don’t have a computer, or yours doesn't have a camera and microphone, the instructions also explain how to load Zoom onto your smartphone or tablet.
The challenges presented by the COVID-19 outbreak are significant, but our team has shown remarkable adaptability in their dedication to continuing to deliver the most important services you need in a short amount of time. Please know that we are working diligently to support your health and wellness, now as much as ever, at a safe social distance!
We miss you!
