Dear Onteora Scouters,
New York State released guidance pertaining to safe and legal operations of summer camps. The Theodore Roosevelt Council and Onteora Scout Reservation leadership are currently reviewing those guidelines and incorporating them into our plan to safely proceed with our scheduled summer camp season. We are also working on how these new guidelines will impact weekend camping at Schiff Scout Reservation.
We ask for your continued patience as we continue to work with the Department of Health to ensure that our summer camp plans meet the health and safety standards that are in line with New York State regulations. Over the next few days and weeks, more information regarding safety protocols, health screening, and program delivery will be released to help our campers, parents, and leaders plan for their camp experience.
We wanted to inform every parent and leader that each individual planning to attend this summer will be required to provide either:
- A negative diagnostic test result for COVID-19 using an FDA or DOH authorized polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or other nucleic acid amplification test (NAATs) that was performed within 72 hours of arrival as camp (a negative rapid test will not satisfy the requirement).
- Proof of having completed the COVID-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the date of arrival at camp.
- Documentation of a laboratory confirmed COVID-19 in the previous 3 months.
The Theodore Roosevelt Council encourages all those who are planning on attending camp to get fully vaccinated before the summer camp season to help protect yourself, your fellow Scouts, Scouters, and their loved ones.
On June 16th there will be a virtual 2021 OSR Leaders Meeting. More information and a registration link will follow.
The Theodore Roosevelt Council is committed to providing a safe, fun, and high-quality program for our Scouts. We thank you for your continued support of Onteora Scout Reservation and the Scouting program.
Yours in Scouting,
Theodore Roosevelt Council Leadership
