Dear District 65 Community,

Thank you for your continued engagement on the Structural Deficit Reduction Plan and the conversation around potential school closures. At last night’s meeting (watch recording), the D65 School Board did not approve the motions to hold public hearings to consider the following school closure scenarios:

  • Scenario 2D-R2 - proposed school closure of Kingsley and Willard
  • Scenario 2F-R2 - proposed school closure of Kingsley and Lincolnwood
  • Proposed school closure of Kingsley

Next Steps

  • The School Board will hold a special meeting this Thursday, November 20, at 5:15 p.m. at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center (1500 McDaniel Ave., Evanston) to vote on a motion to hold public hearings for the proposed school closure of Lincolnwood Elementary.
  • The Board will continue to discuss how to return District 65 to financial sustainability.

Students remain at the heart of what we do. As we approach fall break, I hope you are able to rest, spend time with your family, and recharge so that we can return to school ready to experience the joy in learning! Thank you for your continued partnership.

Dr. Angel Turner (she/her)

Superintendent
