As you all know, the deadline for the I-2066 campaign to turn in signatures is Friday, July 5th – just 8 days from today. Our goal is to turn in at least 405,000 signatures to ensure qualification.
Fortunately, we are in a fantastic position heading into this final week. As of yesterday (Wednesday, June 26th) morning, we have over 328,000 signatures turned in! This puts us over the threshold of the 325,000 signatures needed for qualification (though we know we need to hit that 405,000 mark to ensure we surpass the verification process). The most exciting news in that in the seven days between June 19th and June 26th, we collected over 105,000 signatures, which is a great indicator of what to expect from this final week of collection.
While I am now extremely confident we will meet our goal, WE CANNOT LET UP NOW!! We have many events planned over this final weekend, will have paid signature gatherers out every day through the July 4th holiday, and we need all of our volunteers and supporters to return every petition they have before July 4th. The more signatures we turn in, the stronger the message we send about protecting natural gas and consumer choice!
I can’t thank all of you enough for the cooperation and support you’ve given to the effort! The work each of your organizations have done – distributing petitions, collecting signatures and petitions, promoting the initiative and making financial contributions – has been critical to our success to date. This truly has been a group effort!
For the final week, however, we need to focus completely on getting petitions turned in. Please encourage everyone in your respective organizations to get petitions in, regardless of how many signatures are on the sheet. (It’s important to emphasize that sheets DO NOT need to be completely filled with 20 signatures to qualify. A sheet with even one signature counts.) There is still time to mail petitions back directly to Let’s Go Washington (16625 Redmond Way Suite M-PMB18 Redmond, WA 98052). However, they need to be mailed by tomorrow, June 28th, to ensure their delivery before the deadline.
After tomorrow, petitions can be dropped off at any of dozens other locations across the state. The list of drop-off locations can be found at LetsGoWashington.com. I can assure you that all petitions dropped off at these locations will make it into the stack turned in on July 5th.
