EMPOWERING STORIES
Vol #05 April, 2020
Greetings Dear Friends,

In light of the current pandemic, our #1 priority is to provide our 25 students with all the best safety recommendations possible. We are here to encourage and support them no matter what!

While some of them are sequestering in Oaxaca, others have returned to their home villages early for Spring break as the State has mandated.  Their return date is unclear,  but most institutions are moving to online classes with the same fees and tuition as normal.
Mayra is staying in Oaxaca as she is the solo provider in her house.
Eraclio is in his mountain village where he will be attending classes remotely.
Our city is partially shut down, and gathering in groups is not possible. Of course we hope our students 'stay safe', but many need to work and use public transportation. Most of our students work to defray their living costs, but have had their hours cut, or lost their jobs entirely. We are here for them!

We encourage you not to let the virus dampen your support for those who desperately need it.  Faith in times of crisis provides us the courage to look forward with a sense of hope. It is with this hope we get through present challenges and continue to build a better future.

Looking forward, we have two students preparing for graduation this June, Jose from Medical School, and Jesus from La Salle preparatory school. We are thrilled with their accomplishments that YOU helped make possible. We are here on the front lines and can see how important it is to provide food, shelter and education to these leaders of tomorrow.

We understand if some of you may not be able to donate at this time, and so please continue to keep us in your positive thoughts and prayers. We ask that those who are able to help even a little, will take one or more of these 3 action steps:

  1. Please consider donating your IRS Tax Refund and/or Economic Stimulus check to our 25 Casa de Kids students.
  2. Make a donation on our secure website, or mail a check to the address below.
  3. Be a key person in our "power base" by becoming a monthly donor of any amount.

Thank you for making this life-changing work possible.

In Gratitude,
