Dear Boise School District Staff & Families,
We want to make you aware of a developing national issue that could impact federal education funding, including funding for Boise School District. News outlets are beginning to cover this story, and we believe it’s important that you hear about it from us first.
The current Administration has indicated plans to withhold approximately $7 billion in federal education funds nationwide. Idaho’s share of that funding is estimated at $33.3 million. According to preliminary information from the State Department of Education, Boise School District receives approximately $1.5 million of that total, primarily through Title IIA, Title IIIA, and Title IVA grants.
These federal programs are essential to providing professional learning for our staff, supporting multilingual learners, and offering safe and enriching learning opportunities for students. Without this funding, we would face difficult decisions that could affect student supports and services.
While the potential loss of this funding is concerning, please know that we are actively monitoring the situation and advocating for the restoration of these funds. Most importantly, we are committed to working thoughtfully to avoid staffing reductions and minimize any disruption to our students and schools. Our leadership team is assessing all available options and will keep you informed as we learn more.
If you have questions about this situation or how these federal funds support your school or department, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your immediate supervisor, or school principal. We will continue to communicate openly as this situation evolves.
Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and families.
Sincerely,
Lisa Roberts
Superintendent
Boise School District
