The City Clerk's Office is keeping you informed of the status of the open recruitment process for filling positions on our Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCCs). We thank you for your interest and patience as we navigate the new process. If you are a current BCC member with a term expiring, the Section 2-3.04 of the City’s Municipal Code indicates that members will remain in their seat until a new appointment is made.

What is the delay? The delay related to the approval of updates to the Governance Policy affecting the Boards, Commissions and Committees. The Council has now approved the updated policy and has created a new Mayor/Vice Mayor Subcommittee that will interview applicants.

When will interviews take place? We are hopeful that interviews will be scheduled for early September; please stay tuned!

Is there an application deadline? 

The City Clerk's Office is still accepting applications. Please feel free to share this information with anyone you feel is interested in joining one of the City's Boards, Commissions and Committees.

What seats are available to be filled?

• Architectural Review Committee (ARC) – Three (3) members (two unscheduled vacancies and one regular term expiration). Architectural profession or competence is desired but not required. NOTE: The Council has directed that the ARC be dissolved, which will be enacted as soon as possible.
• Building and Housing Appeals Board – One (1) alternate (vacant since 2024). Qualification: Must have experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to building construction. Experience in residential or commercial construction projects, the building trades, code enforcement, or building inspection is preferred.
• Historic Preservation Commission – Three (3) members (regular term expirations). Qualification: A minimum of two members of the commission must have professional experience from the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archeology, or other historic preservation related disciplines, such as urban planning, American studies, American civilization, cultural geography, or cultural anthropology. 
• Museums and Cultural Arts Commission – Four (4) members (one unscheduled vacancy and three regular term expirations).
• Measure P & S Oversight Committee – One (1) member (unscheduled vacancy).
• Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program (NCIP) Committee – One alternate each for the following neighborhoods: Del Monte Beach (unscheduled vacancy), Del Monte Grove Laguna Grande (regular term expiration), Fisherman Flats (unscheduled vacancy), Glenwood (regular term expiration), Oak Grove (vacant since 2024), Skyline (vacant since 2024), Villa Del Monte (regular term expiration). Qualification: neighborhood residence. • Parks and Recreation Commission – Two (2) members (regular term expirations).
• Planning Commission – Three (3) members (one unscheduled vacancy and two regular term expirations).
