March 13, 2020

Dear Bishop Blanchet Community,

Governor Inslee addressed our State for a second time this week, yesterday, mandating that all k-12 schools extend their closing through April 24, 2020 . While this is significant news, it is not necessarily unexpected, as aggressive measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus and the illness COVID-19 are being enacted around our region and the world.

This announcement means that our closure and Digital Distance Learning Plan will extend through April 24 and all BBHS extra-curricular events are likewise suspended through that date.

As outlined in my message on Wednesday, we have our Digital Distance Learning Plan in place and are confident in our program and committed to ensuring education continues. Remaining flexible is crucial, and we appreciate the responsibility we share with parents/guardians to keep our students growing, learning and safe.

To confirm the academic plan: Monday, March 16 will be a Green Day, and we will alternate days to split the course workload. Through at least March 27, teachers will post assignments to Google classroom by 10:00 a.m., and students are expected to complete those assignments by the end of the day they are assigned. Students are expected to check their BBHS email and Google classroom daily. We may move to our prolonged Digital Distance Learning Plan after March 27, however we will continue to communicate regularly and update you as we make changes. Please reach out to Principal Sam Procopio, at sprocopio@bishoblanchet.org , if you have specific questions or concerns.

We are all facing these uncharted waters together, and our Brave community is strong and resilient. One important way we can stand together as a community is by supporting our Brave Venture On-line Auction starting tonight at 8:00 p.m . Please watch for a special email later today about the auction.

We will miss being together in person this weekend, but your generous participation in the auction will help support our school as well as those who are most vulnerable at this time. We have added to our online auction items a special donation opportunity to support St. Vincent de Paul Seattle/King County. Please help us spread the generosity of the Brave community to those most in need. Thank you for your support this weekend.

God Bless and Go Braves,

Tony DeSapio
President
