September 1, 2020

Dear students, faculty and staff,
When we announced our plans for the fall semester on June 3, we anticipated being able to share the spring semester calendar with you on September 1. We recognize how important it is for you to be able to make plans, but, because of the way our classes are intertwined with CWRU’s, we cannot finalize our plans without knowing their intentions. Based on what we know today, that could take several more weeks. Please know that we are working closely with their provost’s office to understand both CWRU’s plans and the timeline for approving those plans, so that we can communicate with you as soon as there is enough information.
That said, I do have some good news to share.
  • Residents of 1609 Hazel will have the option to stay in their rooms during the winter break period, for an additional cost. Resident Director Cicely Schonberg will be in touch with you soon about your housing options for the winter break. Although the costs and reservation details are still being finalized, we hope this flexibility brings some peace of mind for you.
  • Additionally, during the break, the practice rooms at 1609 Hazel will be available for all enrolled CIM students to use and reserve through EMS. This will allow those of you who need access to school-owned instruments (like pianos and percussion) the ability to maintain a practice routine during this period. (As usual, the main building will be closed completely for at least two weeks around the holidays.)
We look forward to sharing more information about spring semester, as well as housing and practice rooms for winter break, with you in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
