Dear D102 Families ,

Thank you for the overwhelming response to the survey on options for re-opening this coming Fall. Over 1,400 people responded to the survey. The summary of this survey and additional comments will be posted on the District website on Tuesday, July 14.

In the meantime, we have reviewed all of that information, along with the information that we have discussed with teachers and D102 Staff. It is clear that an overwhelming number of people want children to return to school if we can create a healthy environment where students and staff can learn and work.

Later this week we will be putting out a plan that we believe will outline options that parents will have when they are making decisions for this Fall. We recognize that the current landscape and guidance continues to fluctuate, but we are working on recommendations that allow us to live within the guidelines and mandates from Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). In addition, we have been working with various individuals from the medical field, our staff, and our Board to discuss options that give parents choices for their children this Fall.

We recognize this is a time with a great deal of unknowns. We continue to seek guidance from the IDPH, ISBE, CDC and other medical and scientific institutions as we move forward. Any plan that we move forward with will have options for the Fall. Please stay tuned as we work on those details over the next few days

On Friday, you will receive an email with a link that will ask you to respond to various options for next Fall. More information will accompany that document, but it will be important that you watch for that email and respond in a timely manner indicating your choice for your child(ren) in the Fall.

Thank you for your feedback.
