Update: Texas Senate resolution to honor Fethullah Gulen, Islam Imam
2.11.11 -- Today I called the Texas Senate Secretary's office. The staffer said that SR 85 "was read and adopted on the floor of the Senate. If there had been an objection from any of the 31 Senators, that objection would have been so noted in the record." Nobody objected. What this tells me is that our Senators either were not informed about who and what Fethullah Gulen represents, or else they support his efforts.

Today I also called Sen. Lucio's office (Democrat from Brownsville) because since he read SR 85 on the floor of the Senate, it appears to me that he may be the prime author. A staffer was to call me back in a few minutes; but after waiting for three hours, I called and said that if I did not hear from them in a few minutes, I would assume Sen. Lucio was the prime author. I have heard nothing back.

Muslim Indoctrination at Taxpayers' Expense
By Donna Garner
8.18.10

I have been wondering how so many Americans (e.g., educators, politicians, etc.) know about the "Gulen Movement." Now I know. The University of Houston has the Gulen Institute. Fethullah Gulen is a Muslim imam.

Please go to http://www.guleninstitute.org/  to find out how Gulen has managed to indoctrinate Americans all over this country, many of whom are involved now in Turkish charter schools (e.g., Harmony Science Academies).

A professor friend of mine just sent me her comments regarding the Turkish charter schools:

Just a comment about Turkish Charter Schools - A few of the participants in my summer workshops teach at these charter schools. Three teachers from a charter school in a large metroplex area shared that Turkish and Spanish are taught in their school. They mentioned that those students who study Turkish receive more attention and funding for their language program. This summer the school "managed" to send the students and teachers to Turkey to help them increase their "proficiency" skills. Of course the students who study Spanish were not given a "free" trip to study in Spain!

Under "News" on the U. of H. Gulen Institute website can be found the names of well-known people who have been involved with the Institute: U. S. Congressmen Gene Green, Sheila Jackson Lee, Kofi Annan, Mayor Tom Leppert, Dr. Terri Grier, Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth A. Jones, Bill White, Dr. Akbar S. Ahmed (Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University), and James Baker, to name just a few.

I imagine that many of these people help to fund the Turkish charter schools where Islam is the predominant religion. However, charter schools are public schools; and we taxpayers fund charter schools. I personally do not want my tax dollars going to support Muslim schools since we have seen an eruption all around the world of Islam terrorists who have been indoctrinated behind the closed doors of various schools and mosques.

Please watch these YouTubes to see the indoctrination of impressionable Muslim children who are directed to hate Christians and Jews:

Gulen has managed to establish legitimacy through his careful cultivation of many layers of society. Tolerance has led to acceptance, but my concern is whether this acceptance in many cases has led to radicalization and then to "homegrown terrorism."

After all, it is Muslim terrorists who committed the atrocities of 9/11 -- not Christians or Jews.

I believe it is no coincidence that as the Gulen Movement has grown stronger in Turkey, Turkey has grown more militant toward the United States.
Turkey used to take a rather centrist position toward us. That has changed. We need to remember the recent Muslim aggression shown during the Gaza flotilla and that Turkey was one of two countries in the United Nations to vote recently against the United States' stringent boycott of Iran.

I also do not think it is a coincidence that so many of the militant Muslims have lived and are living in the United States, including Gulen, who lives in Pennsylvania right now. They study our culture up-close-and-personal. They figure out our weaknesses as a culture; and in many cases, they are using our openness and Constitutional freedoms against us. The more I learn about the Gulen Movement, the more I believe this is a method to take control of our country from within.

From the University of Houston, Gulen Institute website: The Gulen Institute was established in October 2007 as a non-profit organization and a joint initiative of the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and the Institute of Interfaith Dialog.

The perspectives of the institute are inspired by the life and works of the distinguished contemporary scholar and civic leader Fethullah Gulen. Visit Fethullah Gulen Forum for updates on Fethullah Gulen and Gulen Movement.

8.17.10 -- Comments from Donna Garner
Something that this USA Today article (8.17.10: http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2010-08-17-turkishfinal17_CV_N.htm) did not point out, is that Fethullah Gulen is an imam. He is an Islamist, and he practices taqiyya on a global scale. Definition: "employing deception to advance Islam."

The USA Today story states: Since 2001, Harmony has imported 731 employees using H-1Bs, surpassing all other secondary education providers nationwide.

What would these Islam Turkish teachers who have come to the United States on visas teach our American children about such historical events as the Holocaust, American exceptionalism, the Constitution, and The Declaration of Independence?

Here is another in-depth article about Fethullah Gulen: http://www.americanthinker.com/printpage/?url=http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/03/islamist_guelen_movement_runs.html After reading this American Thinker article, I began to search for other information about Fethullah Gulen. He does run more than 90 charter schools here in the United States, many in Texas (list of Harmony Science Academies follows).

Harmony Science Academies (and others) are Gulen-run charter schools. Because we taxpayers support charter schools, this means that our tax dollars are helping to support Islamist Fethullah Gulen.

Minutes after I sent out the American Thinker article on 3.30.10, I received this note from a local pastor:
Hi, Donna
The local Harmony Science Academy is obviously one of these schools. One of our church families had a daughter there, but the Muslim influence and foundation of beliefs and practices led them to remove her.

Thanks for bringing attention to this.
R.

NewsWest9 in Odessa also ran a story on a Harmony Science Academy charter school there that has ties to Cosmos Foundation:  http://www.newswest9.com/Global/story.asp?S=12593025

I stand by my original statement that I do not want my tax dollars going to schools that teach Islam. My concerns are not with charter schools as such but only with charter schools that appear to have very close ties to Muslims. I do not want my taxes paying for such schools.

All of us know that many Muslims are tied to those who want to destroy our American way of life either through terrorist activity or through a quiet takeover of our society where they infiltrate our institutions and work to indoctrinate young students. Why would we want our American children going to schools that are a breath away from being connected to Islam?

(This is the list of Gulen schools that I had as of 6.20.10, but I am sure there are more in Texas now.)

To see a list of U. S. charter schools run by Fethullah Gulen, please go to: http://tool.donation-net.net/Images/Email/1097/FGC_organization_chart_and_School_List.pdf
