Greetings!
One of our most anticipated releases of the year is OAR #6: The Temple of Elemental Evil, and we've got an update for you on its progress.

Plus, this week sees the release of the new Goodman Games Yearbook #8, the DCC RPG Thick Cardboard Judge's Screen, and the announcement of Crypt of the Devil Lich for both 5E and DCC RPG.

And with ZineQuest 3 in full force, we point you towards a handful of campaigns that take advantage of Kickstarter's promotion.

We round things out this week with news for and about the Road Crew, news from Spawn of Cyclops Con on featured events, 5E events, our charity partner, and a chance for you to play on our Twitch channel as part of a special promotion. There are also articles on Gardner Fox, the Luck Award winners from Gen Con 2019, a new feature called When We Were Young, and a reminder about the open call for Tales From The Magician's Skull.

Let's get to it!
NEW RELEASES
NEW IN THE ONLINE STORE:
THICK DCC JUDGE'S SCREEN AND YEARBOOK #8
It’s time to finally say goodbye to The Year That Shall Not Be Named, and we will do this by celebrating the positives that came from that dreadful 365 days. The Goodman Games Yearbook #8 is now for sale in our online store, in both print + PDF and PDF-only formats.

And, the new, very sturdy and very cool, DCC RPG Thick Cardstock Judge’s Screen is also now available!

Both are now shipping from our warehouse.

Let’s take a closer look.
Heavy-duty screen for DCC RPG!

This is a very thick, durable cardboard version of our classic screen. In technical terms the screen is printed on 2mm thick boards, meaning when all three panels are laid upon each other whole screen is more than 6mm thick.

You really have to hold it to appreciate it. This is a durable screen!
The annual Goodman Games community-building sourcebook is back—but let’s not talk about the year!

The year that shall not be named: it was the year we all learned to game online, and we shall celebrate it for that.

In the latest annual community yearbook from Goodman Games, the company celebrates what made this year special. Online connections brought regular gaming back to our lives, and the convention season took on a whole new look.

As always, this volume contains a wealth of new DCC RPG content, including new monster fumble tables and new mighty deed rules. There is an interview with TSR legend Russ Nicholson, a new mini-adventure, and pictures and photographs from this year – the year we want to forget but can’t help remembering.

At least we can remember the good times, including Cyclops Con, DCC Day, Bride of Cyclops Con, and all the great online games.
ANNOUNCING CRYPT OF THE DEVIL LICH FOR 5E AND DCC
An ancient prophecy sends your heroes into the crypt of the Devil Lich. They must destroy her, before she can return to power. Once inside, your heroes face horrors that could only be dreamt of by a mad half-drow half-fiend lich!

Coming soon to Kickstarter! Crypt of the Devil Lich is the most vicious dungeon crawl since Tomb of Horrors. Created in homage to this classic with the goal of providing an even greater challenge, Crypt of the Devil Lich became an instant legend when it was first run as a tournament dungeon crawl. More than 15 years after its original Gen Con debut, we’re pleased to announce that it will finally see print again!
The Kickstarter will fund publication of Crypt of the Devil Lich in two formats: a D&D 5E edition, and a DCC RPG edition. Perhaps the most cherished dungeon crawl ever published by Goodman Games, Crypt of the Devil Lich has been completely updated and converted to new rules sets. It’s ready for your table: are your players ready for it?

Featuring new cover art by Sanjulian, this new hardcover conversion has been brought into the 5E rules set by original lead designer Chris Doyle, and converted to DCC RPG rules by Bob Brinkman.

Look for more details to be announced soon!
AN UPDATE ON THE TEMPLE OF ELEMENTAL EVIL
In April of last year we announced that Goodman Games would be adding legendary adventure module The Temple of Elemental Evil to our Original Adventures Reincarnated line. Well, we thought it was time to update you on the progress of what is proving to be an absolutely huge book.

Two books in fact! Now that all of the writing, editing, and art is done, we’re in the layout stage of this massive undertaking, which upon release will take up an estimated 700-800 pages. That will be two hardback volumes in a custom slipcase priced at $99.99, estimated for an August 2021 release.

These volumes reprint the original material from the published module T1-4: The Temple of Elemental Evil, as well as the original version of T1: The Village of Hommlet. Created by Gary Gygax and Frank Mentzer, The Temple of Elemental Evil has long been regarded as one of the greatest adventures in TSR’s publishing history. And we are proud to bring this module to a new audience.

Like all of the Original Adventures Reincarnated line, this release will contain both the original material scanned in and cleaned up to present it as it originally appeared, along with a full, new 5E translation in the second half of the book. The new material is being designed by a creative team led by Chris Doyle with contributions from Rick Maffei and others, all of whom are seasoned veterans of Dungeons and Dragons across its many incarnations.

We anticipate OAR #6 The Temple of Elemental Evil will be ready for the printer within the next 4-6 weeks, and that stage is when we will start accepting pre-orders. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more information and additional previews once this beast is at the printer!
Let’s look at the text from the back cover of the book:

EVIL BORN ANEW

The Village of Hommlet thrives again. Years ago, this quaint village nearly fell prey to a great, neighboring evil. The nearby Temple of Elemental Evil, a grand edifice of wickedness, was defeated after a great battle and thrown into ruin forever … or was it? Bandits have started to ride the roads again, and there are other ominous signs afoot. It is whispered that the demonic evil at the heart of the Temple was not truly conquered but merely imprisoned. Even now, agents of evil, malevolent beasts, and far worse creatures are conspiring to return the Temple to power and enslave the surrounding lands. Hommlet and the neighboring ruins may hold clues, but not everyone is to be trusted. Surely danger lies hidden in this idyllic region.

Sharpen your swords and axes. Purchase your iron rations and tinderboxes. And don’t forget at least one 10-foot pole. Great adventure awaits those that dare confront the Temple of Elemental Evil!

This book collection is an homage to the origins of an adventure that began decades ago with T1: The Village of Hommlet and T1-4: The Temple of Elemental Evil. Herein you will find high-quality scans from multiple printings of the original first edition adventure modules, plus commentary by gaming legends. Full fifth edition conversions of both adventure books are included, as well as brand new adventure material that adds new wilderness encounters, expands the Village of Nulb, fully details the evil Elemental Nodes, and provides fifth edition updates of many original magic items, monsters, and spells. This is a fully playable mega-dungeon and mini-campaign—many hours of classic-style adventure await you!

You can look for OAR #6: The Temple of Elemental Evil to arrive in August 2021.

But in the meantime, check out the entire Original Adventures Reincarnated line for the absolute best in classic adventuring.

We are pleased to announce that our charitable partner for Spawn of Cyclops Con is the Franklin Food Bank. And now it is more important than ever to help out those in need.

Goodman Games will donate $5 to the food bank for every game run at Spawn of Cyclops Con. We live in difficult times, many people are hungry, and this is a way that we can help out by sharing our experience.

Please know that as you game, someone else will benefit. And don’t let it end there. In your own neighborhood, please keep an eye out for those in need, and help them as much as you can!

GOODMAN NEWS
THE LUCK AWARD WINNERS

If you’ve ever visited our booth at Gen Con before, then you’ll know we have this crazy thing called a Luck Table that our fans can roll on every year. Rolling on the Luck Table can get you something special. Maybe a discount, maybe a freebie … maybe even a portrait of yourself as a monster..
WHEN WE WERE YOUNG
Remember the good old days? The action figures battling over landscapes of shag carpet and shoeboxes, Mom’s second best tablecloth pressed into service as a sleepover fort, and hours spent pouring through charts in black-and-white RPG manuals with all the intensity of cramming for the CPA exam. Debates about the Kessel Run, A-Team lunchboxes, Gobots smuggled into gym class, and video game consoles less powerful than a modern fridge magnet — pure ‘cool’ before it became vintage retro-chic...
TWO MONTHS REMAINING FOR THE SKULL'S OPEN CALL
The greatest sword-and-sorcery magazine in the history of the world is Tales From The Magician’s Skull, and it is now accepting submissions! We’ve already received some fantastic submissions, but there is still time to get your story thrown into the arena. Only two months remain, however, so don’t think this is an eternal chance—the only thing that is eternal is The Skull himself!

Tales From the Magician’s Skull is currently printed twice yearly and pays 4 cents a word upon acceptance. If I find your tale worthy, my minions will purchase select rights so we may publish the story. You retain the copyright...
SWORD-AND-PLANET LOVE-LETTER: GARDNER FOX'S WARRIOR OF LLARN
by Brian Murphy
Sword-and-planet (S&P) is an odd, anachronistic corner of speculative fiction, occupying a colorful and wild interstellar space somewhere between the charted lands of fantasy and science fiction. Fighting-men from earth travel via astral projection to planets where hovercraft soar, shining cities in oxygenated domes rise above dusty plains, and aliens wear radium pistols at their hip, but settle conflicts man-to-man and sword-to-sword. And not with lightsabers, but old school, real shiny bits of steel...
