Dear District 86 Families,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we finalized the A-B split for the students who will begin the 2020-21 school year in the hybrid model without lunch. We have spent the past several days making adjustments or modifications to the groups in order to accomplish the following goals:
- Balance the A and B groups as closely as possible, while also adhering to the health and safety guidelines regarding capacity limits and social distancing of six feet.
- Ensure that siblings are assigned to the same group. We are also grouping English Learners together due to language acquisition programming.
- Identify the students from our self-contained special education classes (e.g., HAVEN, Foundations, etc.) who will be included in both groups so that they can receive additional support and interventions.
- Process requests from families that have decided to switch models (hybrid or online) to start the year.
Second, we want to let you know that the group designations for all students who completed the registration process for the upcoming school year have been added to the Home Access Center (HAC). These students will be listed in the system as A for Group A, B for Group B or O for the online program. Any students who have been included in both the A and B groups will be contacted directly about their schedule. You can access step-by-step directions for how to find your student’s group designation in HAC by visiting https://bit.ly/30PkEtb
If you need help accessing HAC, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
. If you have questions about the group designation for your student, please contact your child’s counselor.
I hope you enjoy the last few days of summer break, and look forward to welcoming our students back to school next week.
