February 15, 2022

Hello Davis Waldorf School Families,

As I am sure you are aware today the state’s masking mandate is set to expire today and will not be renewed. K-12 schools, public and private, are still required to mask indoors; however, there is flexibility for masking outdoors.

In an effort to keep our community safe and reduce transmission we’ve been following guidance from Yolo County Health Department regarding wearing masks outdoors in mixed cohorts. Last week we received updated guidance that recommended lifting outdoor masking mandates in K-12 campuses with a vaccination rate of 50%. This change in guidance is reflective of growing evidence that outdoor transmission risk is low. DWS has decided to no longer require masking when outdoors for students.

During the February break, we will be sending out more communication around masking outdoors for parents, staff members and volunteers as well as masking requirements for individuals returning after sickness or exposure, but wanted to give a brief update now.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
Jennifer Slater
