PARENT/GUARDIAN SURVEY REGARDING 2018-19
BOISE SCHOOL DISTRICT CALENDAR
For the 2018-2019 School Year, the Boise School District modified its school year calendar to end the First Semester prior to the Winter Holiday Break rather than in January as it had in the past. This change allowed students to take End of Course Assessments prior to their Winter Holiday Break and provided students with a fresh start for second semester after the Winter Holiday Break. In an effort to gather feedback from families, the Boise School District Calendar Committee is asking parents and guardians to complete a mid year survey to assist us in gauging the impact that this shift has had on students and families.

Note:  The survey will close on Thursday, February 28th.

IDEA FOR OUTDOOR FOOD PANTRY CATCHES ON ACROSS IDAHO
A couple of years ago, students and staff at Borah High School started an outdoor food pantry for the school community. Word quickly spread about this endeavor, and outdoor food pantries started springing up not just in Boise, but around the state in school districts including Shelley, Rexburg, Firth, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls.

"Not only has this idea helped your students at Borah, but your example is now helping people all over Southeastern Idaho," wrote Karrie Winder , who recently moved to Shelley, Idaho and whose niece currently attends Borah. "Your generosity and time have inspired many and is helping thousands! You created a simple, yet lovingly effective, solution to a huge need in our schools. Thank you!"
Borah High School's outdoor food pantry (above) was started a couple of years ago by Borah students and staff. Others began appearing at Boise schools such as South Jr. High (pictured right) and then began cropping up around the state.
