MTLSD 2025-2031 Strategic Plan

Participate In A Strategic Plan Focus Group

There is no better time than now to focus our direction toward the future. The Mt. Lebanon School District is in the process of creating a Strategic and Comprehensive Plan. This plan will serve as a roadmap for the District’s educational and operational priorities into the next decade.

The Mt. Lebanon School District brings together a diverse community of perspectives. When we unite with a shared purpose for our students, we elevate our potential and lead the way to greater success. In November and December, the District collected feedback from parents/guardians, students in grades 5-12, and staff via an online survey. The results were shared during the December 9 Board of Directors meeting. A copy of the results can be found here.

Now is your opportunity to engage in the strategic planning process by participating in a focus group. The sessions will include guided group discussions designed to better understand perceptions and shared experiences within MTLSD with the goal of using these lessons learned to create recommendations for improvement.

During January and February, we will hold several 90-minute focus groups co-hosted by the Mt. Lebanon Board of Directors, MTLSD Executive Council, and the Parent Teacher Association. These sessions are open to anyone. Staff and student-specific sessions will also be held during January and February, and information will be shared with those groups separately.

To participate in a Strategic Planning Focus Group:

  • Sign up for one session using this link.
  • Once you complete the registration process the following will occur:
  • For virtual focus groups, a week before the session a link will be sent to your email address you used during registration to access the focus group along with a participant guide.
  • For in-person focus groups, specific details about your session location will be sent a week before to the email address you used during registration along with a participant guide.

Registration for each focus group will close one week before the session. Mt. Lebanon School District hopes you will join us as we define our future together. Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions regarding these dates, please contact Kim Walters at kwalters@mtlsd.net.

Newsletter Update:

Two-Hour Delay on Monday, January 6, 2025

Mt. Lebanon School District will operate on a two-hour delay with modified kindergarten on Monday, January 6, 2025, due to anticipated weather conditions. This will give crews time to clear roadways and sidewalks and allow staff and families to arrive safely.

A decision will be made by 5:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, if a closure is necessary. Please continue to monitor all communication from the District for any change in status.

After a two-hour delay, students in grades 1-12 will report to school by these times:

  • High School: 10:00 AM
  • Middle School 10:00 AM
  • Elementary School: 10:30 AM

The modified schedule for kindergarten is as follows for when there is a two-hour delay:

  • AM Kindergarten: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • PM Kindergarten: 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

If a school closure is necessary, families and staff will be notified via phone and email, and the District’s website will be updated accordingly.

For more information about two-hour delays, visit our website.

Special Education and Student Services Departments Survey - Feedback Due On January 10, 2025

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, my office will be conducting a comprehensive review of the programming within the Special Education and Student Services departments during the 2024–2025 school year.

The initial phase involved an internal review of local program assessments and state-approved plans. Now, we are seeking input from families through a survey designed to gather valuable stakeholder feedback.

Your responses will play a crucial role in identifying strengths, areas for improvement, training needs, potential programming adjustments, staffing suggestions, and budgetary recommendations. After the survey period closes, a committee will analyze the responses and compile the data. A summary report of the findings will be presented to the public in the spring.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey using the link below. It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain open until January 10, 2025.
