Garces Family,
As you know, this year will look different than past years. While there will be some changes, we are working hard to keep things as normal as possible for our Rams. We miss seeing our Rams' smiling faces around campus and look forward to being all together as soon as possible.

Below you will find updated information regarding distance learning, COVID-19 updates, required forms and who to send each to, and an updated schedule of the first week of school.

COVID-19 Important Information & Distance Learning
|
|
Due to Kern County returning to the state's watch list and in compliance with Governor Newsom's mandate, we cannot reopen campus by the first day of school as planned. We will be moving to distance learning for the time being. All information and resources need for distance learning can be found

. We are deeply disappointed we will not be able to see our students in person yet, but we want to assure you that as soon as we can open campus, we are ready.
When we can be back on campus, we understand some might want to continue with distance learning. That option will be available. When the time comes, if that is what you prefer to do, please contact

In addition, we will be utilizing Zoom for all meetings with Garces staff, faculty members and parents. You will need to email meeting requests to counselors, teachers and administrators and a Zoom meeting will be scheduled.

When does Garces need my student's immunizations record?
If Garces Memorial does not have a copy of your student's immunizations record, your student
will not
be able to attend until those records are on file. Please bring/mail a copy to Garces registrar Mrs. Joan Richardson before the first day of school.
When will schedules be available?
Students and parents are able to view their 2020-21 class schedules via the
FACTS Parent Portal
(District Code: GMHS-CA)
. We are no longer using NetClassroom. We will not be emailing or mailing schedules as they are accessible online. If you have any questions, please contact

How can I donate my used books?
Do you have a pile of old Garces books lying around that you're never going to open again? If so, help out your classmates by donating any used textbooks, assigned English books, or summer reading books back to the school! You can drop them off outside the front gates of campus from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday, August 3rd.

All students planning to participate in athletics during the 2020-2021 school year must complete the Athletic Clearance Packet and sign and return the "
Return To Play Waive
r
" before they are allowed to begin practicing. This packet must be completed along with a current physical on file at Garces. All coaches have received new guidelines for the new protocols for returning to practices. These protocols include facility sanitation requirements, face covering, social distancing guidelines and health screenings. Students will be required to complete a "
Daily Health Screening
" questionnaire before each practice.

Student Community Service Program
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the unknowns of the virus, we have decided not to require service hours for the upcoming school year. Instead, we will plan school wide service projects throughout the year, if safe and allowed.
