Penn Yan Supply:

A Legacy of Service and Growth in the Finger Lakes

Since 1951, Penn Yan Supply (formerly known as Penn Yan Plumbing & Heating) has been helping local businesses run smoothly. With a longstanding commitment to the community, they have helped contractors, retail shop owners, and DIYers by providing reliable, knowledgeable customer service paired with high-quality plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and water conditioning supplies.

Patrick D'Amico began his company as a plumbing and heating contracting firm. As demand for his installation services grew, Pat expanded his parts inventory and eventually opened a storefront on Champlin Avenue in the 1970s. By 1979, the business relocated to a larger facility in Lake Street Plaza to accommodate its growing clientele.

In 1980, Pat's son, Don D'Amico, joined the business, taking over in 1983, with his wife, Nancy. A significant milestone was achieved in 2006 when the company purchased a competitor and moved to its current location at 100 Horizon Park Drive, offering over 10,000 square feet of retail space.

Current owner Brian Cunningham was hired by Don in 2005, and he spent the next decade expanding his knowledge of the business and creating both customer and community connections. In 2011, Brian and his wife, Erin, purchased Penn Yan Heating & Plumbing from the D’Amicos. Today, Penn Yan Supply stands as a comprehensive provider of products, supplies, accessories, parts, and tools for almost any plumbing, heating, electrical, or water conditioning job.

As a local business dedicated to quality service, Penn Yan Supply honors its history and continues to evolve. The recent rebranding speaks to the larger spectrum of offerings with an emphasis on outstanding customer service, high quality products and community involvement. Brian said, “Very often, we had people stopping in the store who were shocked when they saw all the products we carry. It became clear to us that we needed our brand to change so that people knew who we really were and all that we had to offer. We aren’t just a plumbing store. We basically carry everything you would need to build a business or a home, except for lumber. We are also very invested and involved in the community, and Paulina at Garces Design really helped us pull that into our brand by placing the building over the Y (representing Keuka Lake) in our logo, bringing in the orange color and developing the “Building with You Since 1951” tagline. We were so happy to be able to pull in all of those elements, honoring the D’Amicos’ history and dedication here and still putting a little of ourselves and what we’ve brought to the company and the community into the brand.”

Owners Brian and Erin Cunningham and the store's team of long-term, committed, knowledgeable employees continue to expand Penn Yan Supply’s expertise. They remain rooted in its founding principles of quality, reliability, community service, and supporting other local businesses and community organizations.

When asked about the value of their Chamber of Commerce membership, Erin responded, "As local business owners, we are passionate about supporting our fellow local business owners and community organizations. Being a member of the Chamber seems to be a logical extension of that—they help keep us in the loop on community events, support our fellow local businesses and offer great opportunities for us to promote our company."
