Hello, Master Trainers and Class Leaders!
Happy Tuesday, everyone.
I am elated beyond measure to report that you can now download the new Class Leader Materials through the Extension Store. You can use our Class Leader How-To Guide to help you through the process of locating and downloading the new materials. These materials should only be used alongside the Powerful Tools for Caregivers Workbook and are not compatible with the former book, The Caregiver Helpbook.
The updated Class Leader Materials download has three folders - Program Marks, 6-week class series, and Managing Stress workshop. Outside of these three folders, you will find the Implementation Guide.
Some things to note about each folder and some changes:
1 - Implementation Guide and Program Templates
- The Implementation Guide has been updated, too! This is an excellent go-to resource if you need ideas for recruitment, quotes for marketing, teaching tips, encountering challenging participants, and more.
- At the end of the guide, you will find the materials that were previously under the Program Templates file, including:
- Sample text that can be used in flyers and brochures, additional promotional text options (course description, press release, class details), and templates specific to delivering the class series (course checklist, registration screening script, course roster registration, and confirmation letter).
2 - Program Marks
- This contains the updated PTC mark (i.e. logo) in a variety of different formats (JPG, PNG, EPS), along with instructions on how to use the mark. This is for marketing purposes. We encourage you to create your own marketing materials (best for accessibility and copyright reasons!), and the document guide provides you with steps on how to ensure you credit Powerful Tools for Caregivers in your community using our mark.
3 - 6-week classes
- This contains the script booklet (now called the "Class Leader Manual") and PowerPoints for both Caregivers of Adults and Caregivers of Children. Additionally, there is an updated evaluation for everyone to use that is completed at the end of Class 6. I'll have more information about the evaluation in the next month or so - don't panic about it! I'm just letting you know it's there!
- The full list of charts has been added to the end of the Class Leader Manual so all of your resources are in one location.
- There is a sub-folder that contains a variety of certificate templates that can be filled in for your caregivers.
4- Managing Stress Workshop
-
The Managing Stress Workshop is now only a 60-minute workshop option. If you have upcoming workshops scheduled using the 90-minute option, you can still move forward with the 90-minute workshop.
- There is now only one script for the Managing Stress Workshop. This will allow you to deliver the workshop to all caregivers at once, rather than recruiting specific caregivers of adults and caregivers of children. We hope this will help in recruitment efforts and allow for expanded use of the workshop. It delivers well for a "lunch and learn" series!
- We now have a short evaluation you can use for your Managing Stress Workshop, which is found in this folder.
- The Managing Stress Workshop still has handouts since we do not provide a copy of the workbook to workshop participants. You will find the workshop-specific handouts under the Managing Stress Workshop folder.
**Remember, you must be logged in to your Extension Store account and be an active facilitator to be able to view the materials. If you have not created a new account since June 2025, you will have to begin by creating a new account so do not skip that step. If you are trying to reset your password and do not receive a link, it's likely you need to create a new account.**
Take some time to review the new materials and familiarize yourself with the new look. If you run into any challenges while using these scripts, please don't hesitate to reach out (ptcaregivers@iastate.edu). We'll be keeping notes of any issues that may arise and I'll be in touch with any additional updates.
Thank you for your continued patience with us. We hope you love the materials revisions as much as we do.
Endlessly grateful for you,
Dr. Katie Anthony
