Grant Project Highlights

Revitalize Watson Cabin


Through the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program, over $43,000 was allocated through the 2024 Annual Grant Cycle to help restore the Watson Cabin. Efforts included refinishing the original floors, repairing structural elements and broken windows, restoring the original bathroom, and offering a small-scale museum gift shop and Tahoe history exhibits. Watson Cabin is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BEBOT Beach Cleaning Summer Schedule


Through funding from the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work Program, the innovative beach cleaning robot, BEBOT, is cleaning up the North Shore this summer! Check out the dates and locations at a beach near you to see BEBOT in action.

Lake Tahoe Water Trail Video

Protect Lake Tahoe and Your Paddle Gear

The NTCA invested TBID marketing funds into the production and distribution of a new video in partnership with the Lake Tahoe Water Trail. Highlighting the Clean, Drain & Dry initiative to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species in Lake Tahoe, the video focuses on how paddlers – particularly with inflatable paddleboards – can help keep Tahoe’s water clean. The video and campaign will be distributed both locally and by REI to all of their members within driving distance to North Lake Tahoe.

Sunday Commercial Trash Service


A pilot program is running between June 2 and September 1 to initiate commercial trash service on Sunday. Commercial customers with at least two scheduled weekly pick-ups can adjust one of those pick-ups to the new Sunday service. 


Interested customers should call TTSD at 530-583-7800 between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to request to change one of their collection days to Sunday.

 

This pilot program is being funded with TOT-TBID Dollars At Work funds. Thank you to the members of the business community who participated in the conversation around the need for Sunday service.

Annual Grant Cycle Opens August 1


The Annual Grant Cycle, part of the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program, supports projects and programs that achieve community vitality, economic health and environmental sustainability. This grant cycle is for projects ready for immediate implementation upon approval. Workshops will be held on July 16 and July 18 to learn more about the process and ask questions.

Additional TOT Advisory Committee Seats Available


At the June NTCA Board of Directors meeting, staff was directed to reopen the committee application process to fill two additional seats; one representing workforce housing, and one at large seat seeking geographical representation from Donner Summit.

Placer County Updates

North Lake Tahoe Wildfire Preparedness Town Hall


Join Placer County Supervisor, Cindy Gustafson, tonight for a town hall for eastern Placer County residents to learn more about what public safety agencies are doing to protect the region and how they can do their part.


The event will be held in Kings Beach at the North Tahoe Event Center tonight, Tuesday, June 25, starting at 6 p.m. It will also be broadcast online via Zoom and Facebook Live.


The event is open to the public and no RSVP is required. Placer County has also partnered with the Sierra Community House and the event will be translated into Spanish and provide accommodations for hearing-impaired individuals.
