Good Evening HVAA Community,

Yesterday and today, two major masking orders were amended in regards to children playing sports and vaccinated people outdoors.

HVAA in accordance to the Montgomery County Commissioners announcement will follow the masking guidelines set forth yesterday. Montgomery County Commissioners announced yesterday that children playing sports or exercising outdoors in Montgomery County will no longer have to wear masks starting Friday, May 14th. They made the change for "high exertion activities outdoor" like soccer, baseball, outdoor basketball, etc.

Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has amended its guidance for fully vaccinated Americans. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced a recommendation that vaccinated people no longer wear masks indoors or outdoors, including in crowds. This has been confirmed with the PA Department of Public Health today.

Masks must still be worn if six feet of distance cannot be maintained between non-vaccinated people, when on the sidelines outdoors.

The latest news release, posted on May 12, 2021, from the Montgomery County Webpage reads:

Updated Masking Guidance for Outdoor Sports & Exercise: Effective Friday, May 14, 2021, the Montgomery County Office of Public Health no longer requires masking/face covering while individuals are participating in high exertion activities outdoors, i.e. playing sports or exercising. In accordance with CDC and PADOH guidelines, masking guidance remains unchanged when individuals cannot maintain sustained physical distance of at least 6 feet from persons outside of their household, when on the sidelines, when outdoors with a mixture of vaccinated and unvaccinated people, and when attending crowded outdoor activities. Indoor masking guidance remains unchanged.
