Hands on Mission Kits 2016
Chattanooga District United Methodist Churches will put together health kits for Zimbabwe again this year. However there have been a few changes. We will be allowed to use the generic version of Delsym in our kits this year. The generic version must have the same ingredients as the name brand medication.  Click here for the brochure that contains the list of items. An additional handout is available that includes photos and descriptions of Kit items. 2016 Spring Lay Servant Classes  
Classes will take place at Brainerd United Methodist Church on Friday, April 15 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, April 16 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The Basic Lay Servant Course will be led by Becky Hall. The Advanced Course (Go Preach) will be led by Reese Fauscett.  The cost is $30.00. Christmas Shoe Boxes for Third World Children
Burks United Methodist Church is acting as a Hub Location for Christmas Shoe Boxes for Third World Children. This is a ministry of the Disaster Relief Warehouse United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Network in Decatur, Alabama. If you are participating in this ministry and you need boxes you may contact the church office at Burks UMC 423-842-4219. You may drop off your filled boxes at Burks United Methodist Church by July 31, August 31 or September 30. Boxes will be transported to Decatur the first weeks of August, September and October. First-Centenary in Conjunction with Other Area Churches is sponsoring a Prayer Walk and Prayer Summit on March 19
The Prayer Walk  will take place on March 19, 2016 at 10:00 am. 

Prayer walk #1 will begin at New Monumental Baptist Church at 901 Woodmore Ln 37411

 Prayer Walk #2 will begin at City Hall, 101 E. 11th 
Street 37402.  

The Prayer Summit and Sounds of Faith Concert will take place on March 20, 2016 at 3:00 pm at First-Centenary UMC at 419 McCallie Ave. 37402. Click here for more information about this event.
Safe Sanctuary Training
Melia Warren, Children's Director at Hixson United Methodist Church, will be leading Safe Sanctuary Training at Hixson United Methodist Church on Monday, April 4 at 6:30 pm. This training event is expected to last between one and one and a half hours.  If you are interested please contact Melia Warren at

so that enough training materials will be available for the group.

Iron Sharpening Iron Conference at Christ United Methodist Church

This event will take place on April 23.  It is for all men ages 13 and up. Information about this event can be found at mensministry.org.

General Conference Day of Prayer
This "Day of Prayer" Event will take place on April 12, 2016. Each District in our Conference has been asked to hold vigil during specific hours of this 24-hour period. Chattanooga District will hold vigil at 2:00 am and 2:00 pm.  More information can be found at

Holston Evangelism Conference: Reclaiming Our Communities For Christ
This event will take place on April 8-9 at Cokesbury UMC, Knoxville, Tennessee. The deadline for registration has been extended. Please Register by March 21. The cost of the Event is $30 per person. For more information go to

Annual Conference 2016
The 2016 Annual Conference is just around the corner.  The deadline to pre-register, and to sign up for events including the Meet the Missionaries Dinner and the 5K Walk/ Run Conference Offering benefit is Friday, May 20, 2016. Childcare registration will also need to be made by May 20, 2016.  The deadline to order a printed copy of the book of reports is April 1. To register go to 

Annual Conference Special Offering
Again our special offering will go to "Children In Poverty". You may download bulletin inserts by clicking Here. If your church is in ministry with children in poverty and you would like to apply for a grant click here for an application. If you need more information about the Children in Poverty Grant and Offering click here

In addition to the Way to go Way to give incentive that is part of this offering, by which each church member is asked to give $10 and 10 hours of service per worship attendance we are asking for each local church to send one of eight selected children's books (listed on the Bulletin insert) with every lay and clergy member to Annual Conference on June 5-8. These books will be collected and made available for local churches to take home and and share as an opening gift to begin a school partnership with their neighborhood schools.

Jubilation, gathering for seniors, will take place in Pigeon Forge at the Mainstay Suites on April 17 through April 19.

Frances Asbury Award Nominations
The Board of Higher Education and Ministry is taking nominations for the Francis Asbury Award.  The Francis Asbury Award is given each year at Annual Conference to offer recognition to individuals who have made a significant contribution to fostering the church's ministries in higher education at the local, district, or annual conference level of the church.
