Wilkes County Public Library

February 2021 News

Relax, Connect,
Be Safe.

All Appalachian Regional Library facilities are closed to the public. We are providing curbside and virtual services only. The library system has chosen this course of action due to the recent spike in COVID19 cases in North Carolina. Contact-free curbside pickup services are available. You can place holds and we will do our best to get other materials that you want as well. Please be prepared to leave your vehicle to retrieve your holds and wear a mask when interacting with staff curbside. Our website and Facebook page have fantastic programs for you to enjoy. For more information, visit our website at wilkeslibrary.org with live chat service during our curbside hours, email wilkesreference@arlibrary.org, or call us at 336-838-2818.

Books on the Small Screen (BoSS)

Join us for this online book club. We will read and discuss books that have inspired TV shows, some current and some upcoming. When you go to our Facebook page, click on Groups, and you can find the group and ask to join. The February selection is The Long Song to go along with the PBS broadcast. Copies of book club selections are available at the library for checkout.

The Wilkes Mystery Book Club is for people who love true crime, thrillers, and all kinds of mysteries but don't have time to attend book clubs. Copies of each month's selection are available at the library a month in advance, or you may choose to download the eBook via the Libby app.
The February selection is The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. The new TV series Clarice will show how Ms. Starling fares in the aftermath. You can join us for a book discussion virtually in our Goodreads discussion forum, https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/10661f71-wilkes-mystery-book-club, whenever you have time and no matter what you're wearing!
Access thousands of emagazines through the RBDigital app on any device. You can set up an account for Appalachian Regional Library and check out many at once without holds. The selection includes coloring books with printable pages.
This month we are featuring an NC LIVE database that gives children—and their parents—a thorouhly kid-safe, advertisement-free media platform they can freely explore and enjoy. You will love the Just for Kids Streaming Collection.
For accessing most online & digital resources: Use your library card number and PIN, which is the last 4 numbers of the phone number you gave us. Or, if you are a student in Wilkes County public schools, you can log in with your student ID (lunch) number and your PIN is the last 4 numbers of your student ID. Want to download an app? Use your device's App Store to install the Libby App for downloadable ebooks and audiobooks and RB Digital for magazines. Your institution is Appalachian Regional Library.
