Dear Lake Forest High School Students and Families,

Over the past 10 days, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has issued some major changes related to state testing expectations and guidelines. Last Friday, we were informed of ISBE directives that impact testing and instruction. They include:

  • Seniors, who were going to test on Tuesday, April 13th, will no longer need to take the SAT as a graduation requirement. That requirement has been waived.

  • The PSAT9 and PSAT10 was also canceled for Freshmen and Sophomores. There is no way for us to administer these tests this spring as ISBE canceled orders for all districts across the state.

As a result, this leaves only Juniors needing to test for the SAT & Illinois Science Assessment during Assessment Week.

Given the decreased necessity for 5 days of testing and given our commitment to provide in-person learning when and where possible, we have sought to provide an updated schedule for the week of April 12th. This updated schedule will follow the normal 4th quarter schedule with some minor modifications.

Monday, April 12th
  • Gold day
  • Remote learning for all
  • Juniors arrive by 7:45am to take the Illinois Science Assessment and will return home to continue classes upon completion
  • Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will take part in their courses remotely

Tuesday, April 13th
  • Blue day
  • Remote learning for all
  • Juniors arrive by 7:45am to take the SAT, will return home to continue classes upon completion
  • Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will take part in their courses remotely

Wednesday, April 14th
  • Scout day
  • In-person learning for all

Thursday, April 15th
  • Gold day
  • In-person learning for all

Friday, April 16th
  • Blue day
  • In-person learning for all

We recognize that the unforeseen changes to the week may impact family decisions or plans. We are expecting students to engage in their selected learning preference this week, but will work with families who may be greatly inconvenienced by this recent change. Families should contact the Attendance Office if there are any concerns.

Specific information for our Juniors related to the Illinois Science Assessment and SAT will be shared next week.

Sincerely,
Alan Wahlert Ed.D
